Hello, nice space shuttle design. (I apologize for writing a long question)I was wondering how you got that to work out good, because I was trying to do the United States NASA one standing, with its orange rocket booster and the 2 thin white ones but it wouldn’t cooperate. I started working one the orange rocket booster first………I typed in Space Shuttle on the 3Dvia search and saw yours.
Hope you write back as soon as you get this
thanks

In fact – this wasn’t too tricky (though quite time consuming) to model Buran, while we have had an original wire-frame geometry data description in digital format. Also we had an access to many of technical documents, photos and so on, related to Buran. All that stuff was provided by guys from www.buran.ru portal. And, as a matter of fact, this Buran_low model is very simple. The original task was to create very complex model of the whole thing, including Energia rocket and many, many details of Buran. That 3D models are used for many of technical illustrations at that site.
Sorry – text on these pages is in Russian, though pictures are quite international :)

Well, to me – it was actually crazy idea to buld a shuttle clone in Russia. Though guys manged to design and build giant rocket and shuttle- buran. The rocket flied twice, and buran – just once, but without a crew, in automatic mode.
From my point of view – mixing in one spacecraft passenger and cargo functionality is wrong approach. There’s no much to get back to the earth from the orbit except the crews. So far, if naned flights needed to be contionued (which is also the big question) it’s certainly better to have small (5-6 guys) spacecraft (may be nonexpendable, but not sure) and ordninary rockets to launc satellites and sapcestations components.
I’m not big fan of manned spaceflights in general – I’d prefer more useful application of engineering skills and resources rather than multi-billion technology show-ups and moon flag drive-in :)
That 3D buran-energia models were commersial order from www.buran.ru, to buld several highly detailed 3D mock-ups of vary proposed designs. The model, presented on 3DVIA is just free bonus of whole project.

You can download original 3DS model from this 3DVIA site. If you’re looking for something differnet -just write me down an e-mail.
