Excellent model smike! And thanks for the background too. I really like that you show it with the doors open so we can really appreciate the incredible interiors that you do.

thats one of the reasons to show the interior to make the doors open..
but mainly i wanted the strecher to hang in the hois on the way in or out of the cabin..
and since i had the cabin door open so why not the cockpit door also…
strangely enough so is the s-76 a very sold model whith over 2000 sold to the us army and many others around the world..
and used for over 10 different things..
but still it dont have a sliding cabin door but one there opens out hanging on 2 hinges..
note this model is made after the s-76-C version which still have the door opening out..
First the next version the S-76-D model comes with sliding doors.
one thing is missing in this model.
The navigator/hoist operator/search and scanning operators place there is placed add the hull beside the opeen dor at the hoist side..
but since it was an optinal choice(sikorsky sales adds) i choose to not making it..
actually i did but it costed to much space adding a complete computer section with all the controls (1.4 mb) so i removed it..

great model smike and excellent job on the interior.
Just a question to the fuselage (body): How come the hwole body has a lot of those sharp edges (just like a Stealth body). the real body is more smooth and shaped with rounded surfaces. Did you do this because of size of the model?

sorry alfredix but that is the 3DS format which has some errors so some faces it have no problems with smoothing and others it removes the smothing on..
i actually dont now what faces it likes so its different every time..
the sketchup file is ok with everything nice and smoothe..

I kknow similar problems from CAD systems, when you export in other formats.
you mentioned Sketchup. Are you using the prof version (the one that costs money), becasue the free version (as far as I know) has only sketchup format, no other formats to export.

so you said it your self i have to be using the pro version since i convert my models to 3ds..
i tryed the trial version there works for 8 hours and after 9 hours i bought the program..
but sketchup has a lot a errors in the converting parts..
the most irritating one is that i cant put different ttextures on each side of a face since sketchup has a tendency to invert some faces in the converting prcess..
this mean that it turns the inside face out and places the face with the texture on the inside.
you can see this on many of my earlyer models like the model SAIPEM 3000 where the main deck of the ship is white and not brown as it should be but it have inveted the faces so the brown color is on the inside face..
the solution to avoid this is to always put the texture on both the inside and the outside face so if it invert the face it still shows the texture..
so if i want one texture on the outside and an other one on the inside i have to make one more inner face or a so called dubbel hull to put the inside textures on..
i have never been able to figure out which faces it will turn around so if you examing all my models you will notice that they always have the texture on both sides..
the fault is in all of the formats sketchups can convert to..

it sounds like a big bug, but you find a workaround.
thanks for your detailled information.

Well, I don’t use pro, and even though I don’t use sketchup a lot, I know one thing…my kmz export goes fine.

It can be confusing, 3d models. Once I downloaded an Interactive model that had a .kml extension. I uploaded it twice and both said it had an error. Then I realized…the format you are supposed to upload is kmz, KML was the name of the software that made 3dxml. So I had to open in Google Earth to upload. But that’s not the end. I had to printscreen the model, as you might have guessed. And I pressed the button 7 times but it only printscreened once. And you can imagine how big a printscreen would be from Google Earth, so I had to close Google Earth…causing printscreen to Not Respond. It went on like this for a long time, switching between DirectX and OpenGL (it told me I had to close the program every time I switched), but I finally got the model, it didn’t have the details I wanted! I uploaded the model anyways, and just looked at it in Google Earth.

Smike use Google SketchUp PRO. 3DVIA Shape is due for a new release soon which will add capabilities. There will also be a bunch of tutorial videos to help quickly explain key features. :)
