Wow! This is obviously a labor of love and extremely well done. Check out the interior! I found a tiny snippet of background (below) to help understand some ot the significance of the structure. Very impressive.
The Abbey of Cluny in Burgundy was the center of a major monastic movement in the Middle Ages. Its church was the largest Christian building in the world until St. Peter’s Basilica was rebuilt in Rome in the 16th century.
One transept of the 12th-century abbey church remains, along with 15th-century abbots’ residences and 18th-century convent buildings. The site also includes pleasant gardens and a museum with Romanesque artifacts.

My engineering school was actually inside this abbey, I spent 2 years there. Most of the abbey was destroyed during the french revolution, only about 10% remains today. My final year project was to redesign this abbey using CATIA V3 with a friend of mine. If only we had V5 at this time!!!

That’s a wonderful story to add to this model. It must have been quite inspiring to learn in such an environment and to use the “latest” technology to reinvigorate amazing technologies of the past. We need to appreciate the ancient building arts more and models like this help.
