credits go to people of the LDraw project.
They provide LEGO bricks in a format that is usable by various LEGO CAD programs.
In this case the “Ldraw” format is converted into 3DS format. Unfortunately the model becomes pretty heavy… :(

Congratulations! Your model is included as one of today’s "Featured Content: Staff Picks" on the home page – www.3dvia.com/

Great to see you modeling again Alfred. It’s also great to see a new LEGO model from you and the LDraw project looks like a great resource – http://www.ldraw.org/ – gotta take some time and try it out!

Hi Don,
it took me some time to come back to modelling. I was moving and most of the time without a sufficient computer. Now everything is settled and I can do some modelling again :)
LEGO came back to my attention when I was unpacking the moving boxes. I have this model as a real LEGO model, which is now on my shelf in my office :)
The LDraw project is indeed a great resource. It is amazing how many software is existing to build virtual LEGO models. And they all share this "LDraw"Format.
The model of the X-Wing fighter was one sample that came with the installation of the software, so I did nothing but loading it :)
But I have some of my own creations already in progress
More to come soon :)

Hi Alfred,

I’m glad that you’re settled in and are getting all systems functional again. It’s great that you have your X-Wing in your office! I had my fully customized Technic truck in my office for quite some time, but now I have a much smaller area and my son stripped the truck to make all kinds of interesting engines and suspension bits. I have some pictures of it somewhere – it would take forever to build in 3D. :)

We’re looking forward to seeing your new creations!
