Once upon a time it was the day of christmas. Every corner of the town was decorated with colors. A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey.
When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her some chips. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat There all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.
As twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.
When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, “What did you do today that made you so happy?” He replied, “I had lunch with God.” But before his mother could respond, he added, “You know what? She’s got the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen!”
Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked, “Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?” She replied! “I ate potato chips in the park with God.” However, before her son responded, she added, “You know, he’s much younger than I expected.”
Moral of the story: Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of Which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime! Embrace all equally!
Well I am not that good in remixing..but couldn’t resist myself from making this model which explains a very emotional & touching story.
Read the story & let me know your feelings on this topic.
Thanks to all the people whose models are used here. You can find all the individual model from the “included model” tab.
Thank you for this wonderful story Parth. It reminds us that joy is everywhere when we are open to it.
There is so many simple things exist in our daily life but we used to forget them as we are too busy with our daily life..for example we use internet to stay connected with the world but we often forget to ask our parents how they are today… or we dont know much about the neighbor staying right beside our house…..this story mostly touches those feelings that we all often ignores to admit…….a simple hug / pat on the back / holding hands / kind word / few minutes with people staying close to you can make a huge difference. After all we all are human & emotionally involved.
So true. Sometimes we think of the internet as a divider of attention or a distraction from real life. I feel this way myself at times when I lift my head and look outside.
Ultimately though, the ability to connect with anyone in the world, to see anything in the world and to learn anything in the world makes the internet (for those of us privileged enough to have access to it) one of the best connectors ever.
Through 3DVIA I have “met” and become friends with many people all over the world. It is wonderful to see how the community responds when a member is not well or has not been heard from in awhile. The moments that we have here are also valuable to help us appreciate others too. :)
I must admit that 3dvia is a great community (except some unfortunate events happen here & there) as we share – communicate – help each-other in various possible way so that we can grow in every direction…….
Some times I feel that why do we need a story to tell us what is wrong & what is right?? I mean the story described here is so true & it is not like that we didn’t know about it until now but why are we don’t consider this things in our daily life?? Are we happy to live that busy?? This trend of living will continue & will be seen in next generations too…….
A good story is a good reminder of the underlying truths in our lives. And we all need reminders.
good story Partha… and as Don rightly points out… we all need reminders… just read this amazing blog y’day ( http://zenhabits.net/2010/01/no-hurry/ )…
we are sometimes so busy with life… taking it so seriously… that we forget to “live”… forget to cherish the small treasures that we all have… and take ‘em for granted… good health for instance… friends and dear ones… etc…
what else can i say… :) (actually there’s whole lot to say… but i should get going… have to get busy with something :D)
Wow!! This discussion has already pointed out some very thoughtful points. I am glad that you have added value to this topic :)
btw there was some networking issue in our office till yesterday. Is it solved for whole office? I hope yes otherwise Abu won’t be able to visit 3dvia & comment.
I’m glad to hear that your network problems are being corrected Parth. :)
Yups it was very much annoying that we were not able to open 3dvia site for last two days.. (God saves IT team from the anger) & all other sites were OK :(
Problem gets worsen when we can’t even launch shape to create models because of the same reason….
