Yay! You’re working on another beauty! I really like this color and, as always, I’m thrilled that you put your work up as you do it, so we can all see how you create a car.
Maybe you could do a screen shot of each model before you overwrite it with the new one and include them in the model as numbered snapshots so people can how you got to the point that you are showing?
As least now you have 25MB to work with, so you can probably put the whole model up when YOU want to. :)
Yes, finally getting the limit raised is fantastic – 25MB for each model!
Since you want to keep the comments and ratings as you work on this model, I was suggesting a way to show your progress. Take a screenshot of this version, before you update it, and put it on a rectangle in the model itself.
Then when you make your next set of modifications and reload the model, your 1st version will be viewable to show the progress. Each time you do this you can gradually create a gallery of how you made the model.
I’ll try to do it on one of my W.I.P. models to show you what I mean.
W.I.P. stands for Work In Progress. It’s most often used in accounting to include work that isn’t complete and can’t be sold, but still contains inventory. It can also be used for lots of other things too, since so many things are indeed work in progress! :)
This model it way more detailded than any other car i’ve created, because blender is known to be slow on big models, and my old computer could not handle much more than 200 000 faces. I feel no limits in my new machine, so i’m able to create more detailed models now.
Oscar I’m soooo glad that you got your new computer. Keep up the fantastic work!
The wheel is causing some weird moire effects – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moir%C3%A9_pattern – but then again anti-aliasing doesn’t seem to work on this old machine either. I’ll try it on a faster machine.
You’re right. That is a tough area to work in. It will frustrate you and then frustrate you some more. Then one day you’ll look at it and know exactly what to do. You’re doing the right thing – keep on working on other bits and let it percolate in your brain until the solution pops up! :)
Hi Oscar. Did you get the email (at your gmail address) with your password for the file transfer site. Once you sign in you can upload your file and then I can download it and try uploading it to your account.
I was able to download it as a blend file and upload it again after assuming your identity temporarily. You should be able to see the results – pretty amazing! Amazingly wrong however. I will have play with it over the weekend and see if I can make things any better.
I just sent you (to your gmail address) a screen shot of what I see in the Player using Firefox, IE, or Chrome on a Windows machine. It’s trying real hard to show the right colors, but it looks like it’s really on something bad drug-wise. :)
I knew, but forgot, that 3dvia doesn’t support textures with the option “ref” or “nor” in blenders material window. Those textures will show up strange. I use that texture to get some cool reflections realtime in blender, so the car material looks more realistic :)

Woot? 25 MB :):):) awesome! Numbered snapshot, what does that means?
Really cool!

Great additions Oscar! You’re getting faster and faster. I hope you’re enjoying it more too. :)
I do :)
I’m glad you got your new fast Mac!
a stupid question: waht WIP comes from?
W.I.P. stands for Work In Progress. It’s most often used in accounting to include work that isn’t complete and can’t be sold, but still contains inventory. It can also be used for lots of other things too, since so many things are indeed work in progress! :)
Yep, im not sure if it’s me, or the computer that makes the process faster. Probably the computer :P
I usually keep my models private when they are a “W.I.P.” because nobody would know what it is!
This model it way more detailded than any other car i’ve created, because blender is known to be slow on big models, and my old computer could not handle much more than 200 000 faces. I feel no limits in my new machine, so i’m able to create more detailed models now.
Oscar; “with confidence comes speed, with speed comes confidence” – a famous statement attributable to someone just waking up. :)
Seriously, it doesn’t matter as long as you’re having more fun!
Tomy, I keep most of mine W.I.P. because I don’t know what they are! :D :D :D
Oscar I’m soooo glad that you got your new computer. Keep up the fantastic work!

Antialiasing fixes it pretty well :)
On this machine anti-aliasing does help, but the wheel patterns are still showing up. Maybe resolution or graphic card issues. It still looks great.
Moire can happen to your eye too. It’s my own designed wheels, they were easy to make :)
WOW! This one blows your other Saleen ( http://www.3dvia.com/mynameisoscarjo/models/0F0D340517293B0D ) into the weeds as far as quality! You have gotten hugely better since then!!
I know, it does really:)
Great Work Oscar. Looks awesome. Can’t wait to see the final thing :)
Thanks Alfredix. Feels good to get those kind of words from you :D
You’re getting ever closer to the end! Looking great!
Thanks. The only thing that I think is really messed up, is the front of the side line, up and back of the front wheel. Not very nice, hard to fix…

Yep :D Added some info in thumbnail.
Guess what? I just ran out of space :D
You should be all set now – for awhile. :)
Why? How big is the limit?
It’s great, but what happened to the gorgeous color? Now it looks like a fast rat rod. :)
Yeah… ill fix it. How big is that limit now??
25mb :) excellent work Oscar.
Thanks a lot! The model was bigger than that when I uploaded, worked anyway…

Check out the renders posted at the link above! Not my renders, but my car :D
some how i liked the earlier blue shade, oscar… the pics on the link are gr8 :)
Yes, the blue shade was great… im trying to update, but the size is already 35 MB!
If you want – you can send me the file (I’ll set up the FTP) and I’ll upload it from my Windblow machine. :)
Thanks! Same adress as usual?
No, it generates a unique address/password each time. You’ll get an email as soon as it is set up.
You should receive an email shortly.
Hey Don, will you upload now?
Hi Oscar. Did you get the email (at your gmail address) with your password for the file transfer site. Once you sign in you can upload your file and then I can download it and try uploading it to your account.
I have uploaded;)
It doesn’t show up yet, but I’ll keep looking. Thanks.
Ill try again
Now it’s uploaded, seriosly!
I was able to download it as a blend file and upload it again after assuming your identity temporarily. You should be able to see the results – pretty amazing! Amazingly wrong however. I will have play with it over the weekend and see if I can make things any better.
I can only see the black Saleen? Or you mean at the file transfer site?
I just sent you (to your gmail address) a screen shot of what I see in the Player using Firefox, IE, or Chrome on a Windows machine. It’s trying real hard to show the right colors, but it looks like it’s really on something bad drug-wise. :)
I will upload an updated file now!
Nice!
I don’t really like those tire textures thought…
Hey guys, really! Play the model, it’s light blue now!
Yeay! Updated the tire texture and the window material…
Amazing…. simply amazing… easily the best of cars that i’ve seen…. in 3D of course…
Lol! Thanks a lot! Feels so good. :)
Absolutely EXCELLENT work!!!
Thanks Omind :D
Great job getting it uploaded! [and a Fantastic model too :)]. What was the file that you had to delete to get the textures to behave?
“Refmap” Thanks Don!
How did you know to delete that file? You’re welcome Oscar (at least it was a little faster this time).
I knew, but forgot, that 3dvia doesn’t support textures with the option “ref” or “nor” in blenders material window. Those textures will show up strange. I use that texture to get some cool reflections realtime in blender, so the car material looks more realistic :)
Oh, and my next model will not be very well detailed, and will be one of the ugliest cars ever(in my opinion)!
Thanks for that info Oscar! I will try to remember that in the future, but will most likely end up asking again…
It seems like it would be hard for you to make an ugly car. :)
Yep. it is(the results will be uploaded NOW!)
