Meant to upload this earlier but my computer was giving me hassles.
I had a lot of fun making it so I thought it would suck if it didnt ever get seen.
The ground and wall are not part of the model, they are just there to show how the light plays into the overall design of the piece.
Textures are still not showing up the way I want but I will try and fix that another day.
I was aiming to create a decorative modern lamp inspired by Icarus, the aim was to make it wireless, I had been looking loads into the whole wireless energy transfer science and I thought that it would make for an interesting lamp design, the actual orb of life itself contains a light bulb that creates a pattern against a surface that resembles an “art deco style” Icarus.
However if slightly rotated it will display instead a stylized sun.
I will attempt to fix the textures tomorrow and show a couple of more designs showing how the light changed, however since I am no longer aiming for a deadline I was hoping to try and create an interactive 3D scene.
Oh well time will tell. Hope you like it anyways.
If you are interested in a better idea of what I was aiming for take a look here:

Congratulations! Your model is included as one of today’s "Featured Content: Staff Picks" on the home page – http://www.3dvia.com/
Great effort! The Experience does show the concept more realistically. I’ll repeat the link here too in case viewers don’t scroll down in the description to find it – http://www.3dvia.com/experiences/653FC35B6D7F5163/icarus
It’s been a while since we’ve seen you aksakof! This makes for one awesome light show. Man, those computer issues ruined it for you? I would hate that, I can’t blame you for uploading late…
Thanks man, I know Its been a while. I just lost confidence in my 3D skills for quite a while.
Anyways, 2 main issues that killed me,
One was 2 faulty fans in my PC which I didnt notice till Sunday :(
And second I installed the new Xoliul shader 2 in Max which has been constantly giving me quite a few error messages even when I am not using it.
Besides that I only had 3 gig of space left on my pc, so as you can imagine it was …c…r…a…w…l…i…n…g…
But hey challenges were made to be overcome, and besides, its a good way for life to tell me its time to back-up, reformat and clean the good ol’ PC.
Life does do that. It requires creativity in all areas. It is good that you were prepared to take the right positive course to get past it. :)
On my old computer I only had 4GB left. It was so bad we got a new hard drive but that made it even slower so we reinstalled windows on it. That did the trick.
Congratulations on winning the Made In 3D Challenge: http://www.3dvia.com/blog/made-in-3d-challenge-winner/ Nicolas! Your hard work paid off!
Thanks a bunch, tbh I didnt think I would even get a mention considering the quality of some of the other work. For example, Anirudha’s "Dassaulution" model:
http://www.3dvia.com/models/7C54E4724456687A/madein3d-dassaulution
intimidated me enough to almost not submit anything at all.
I’m glad that you did submit your work after all! It showed imagination and the willingness to try new things even if they don’t work out the way you hoped.
(PS To have your links show up properly, put a space between the link and anything before or after it. It looks funny some times, but it works.)
Congratulations and welcome back to the fold. Glad you’re adding models and conversing with the rest of the 3DVIA Community.
I have trouble viewing the 3dmodel animation with firefox, but the picture was nice.
