Another excellent model by C Davies that I found on 3D Content Central. Try this YouTube video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhPwaApe4Rk ) as background while you check out the model (there is no voice over in the video, so if you don’t like the music, just shut it off and you won’t miss anything). Wikipedia has a good article as well ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-10_Thunderbolt_II ). I forgot that the plane’s real name is Thunderbolt, named after the P-47 Thunderbolt from WW II.
Does this come in an .obj file?
I found the model on 3D ContentCentral at this link: http://3dcontentcentral.com/3DContentCentral/secure/download-model.aspx?catalogid=171&id=2253
If you go there you can use the dropdown menu to see all the possible downloadable file formats. obj is not included, but you might see another format that you can work with to get what you need.
I hope it works for you.
Thanks much for this
@steeleyes101 – glad you like it – C Davies does some great models! If you do a tag search for “c davies” you can see more, or you can go to the airplanes group too ( http://www.3dvia.com/groups/group_home.php?groupId=B8C89CAE8092A4B6 ) (one of my favorite places here:D).
is a variant of A10a,no?
It says on the youtube description it is called A-10, it is nicknamed Warthog or simply Hog.
hog is meaning a kind of pig,so why is this called?
They are ugly wild pigs that when angered or cornered fight like a rhino. The A-10 can be considered an ugly plane, in the terms of streamline aerial beauty, but my god, you do not want to be on the recieving end of an A-10 Warthog!
The official name is the A-10 Thunderbolt II ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-10_Thunderbolt_II ). The A-10 is the main variant name from which many other versions have been built and named.
The Warthog has earned quite a reputation for doing it’s job well and getting its pilot home again. It has never been considered a beauty queen though.
Amongst hogs, the warthog ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warthog ) also has a reputation for strength in combat, durability and being rather unattractive.
So the A-10 has earned an admirable nickname!
