Description
It is VERY important to note this was not made entirely by me; 3D warehouse users Mr Planet, Rogue and JaViXP played a crucial role in the construction (Mr Planet is also a user on 3Dvia). Created entirely on Google SketchUp, as a collab project

I was not the only person to work on this model; it was a collab project, using Google SketchUp
Beautiful! Thank you for adding the details of how this complex model was developed and giving credit to all those involved! A collaborative model sounds like a great idea. Did you divide it by parts or just keep refining it as you each had time?
I’m sure that the Cars group – http://www.3dvia.com/groups/group_home.php?groupId=8F96B38597A9BB8D – would be very happy if you joined them and added this model :D
And welcome to 3DVIA! It’s great to have you and your models here for us to see, share and learn from!
Yep, i was the one with the idea. But then Wacov uploaded it and everyone refined it bit by bit.
Thanks! It was built using the sharing features on the Warehouse; after the original upload, the collabortaors download, edit, and re-upload. Mr Planet made a couple of parts (The wheels and logos) separately, and added them in, and all of us were involved in creating (meshing) the bodywork.
I’ve noticed a couple of issues with the shading that don’t show up in SU, any way to fix them?
I’ll think about joining the cars group if I make a few more cars… there’s another collab in the works at the moment : )
We were all pretty equal, but yeah, Mr Planet came up with the idea and Blueprints, and made the first geometry. Rogue and JaViXP joined up very soon after the beginning. It was fun, we were all good at something : )
Thanks Mr_Planet and Wacov. You can do the same kind of collaboration here using 3DVIA Shape, so folks using that tool can follow a similar path. It’s a great idea to learn from other modelers’ methods and to build on the best talents of the group.
As smike and others will tell you, the 3DVIA Player doesn’t always play nice with everyone’s models. The Player is getting better all the time, but since we work with so many file formats, we still have a way to go.
What specific issues were you noticing? Perhaps some of the other SU folks can offer workarounds.
In places, you can ‘see’ the edges of what are supposed to be single polys when the camera’s at a certain angle. In can be annoying that SU hides polys from you…
Thanks Wacov. Any ideas out there from SketchUp users on how to avoid this?
This model has been fun to build. I am proud :)
Welcome to 3DVIA JaViXP! You’re off to a great start.
Wow! The Z4 is definitely too Bangelized for me, but you guys did a great job making it look fully “flame surfaced”!
Nice rims on that Z4. I want one!
Hey dswavely, thank you!
@JaViXP – glad to have you here!
I’ll start uploading with my next car. I like 3DVIA, people here are really nice!
Excellent! We do try to be positive and constructive. 3D modeling is much more fun when you have help and comments from friendly fellow-modelers.
I totally agree with that. I am happy since I joined 3DVIA.
