Vidyasagar Setu (commonly known as the Second Hooghly Bridge), is a bridge over the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. It links the city of Howrah to its twin city of Kolkata. The bridge is a toll bridge for vehicles, but is free for bicycles. It is one of the longest bridges of its type in India and one of the longest in Asia.

The bridge is named after the 19th century Bengali reformist Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. Vidyasagar SetuThe bridge also has sister bridges over the river at different points, namely the Howrah Bridge (Rabindra Setu) and the Vivekananda Setu.

The Vidyasagar Setu is a cable-stayed bridge, with a main span of a little over 457 metres, and a deck 35 metres wide. Construction started in 1978 and the bridge was finally inaguarated on the 10th of October, 1992. The commissioning agency was the Hooghly River Bridge Commission (HRBC) and the contractors for the construction was the consortium of Braithwaite, Burn and Jessop also called BBJ.

@sady: I have created two models. This is the second one. I discovered a trick while uploading the model. The model I created earlier ( http://www.3dvia.com/XQH_XXX/models/AC314EA2B48698AA ) was having space issue as It was already over 9.7mb so what I did is that
1. I again open the model in 3dvia then use “Publish As” to create another copy of existing one.
2. Then open the dummy model & delete all the details that I can create later & save it.
3. I download the 3dxml file & zip it. Then using “Upload” option I uploaded the model.
4. Mraculously the size this time comes just 1.2mb :) so I am able to complete the model & in bonus added few cars to make it real.

Both the earler version & new version is available in 3dvia.

This model helps me to discover the trick of how to upload models of larger sizes :) This model is now a part of tips tricks group.
