Now you can see the engine! Why is it in the middle of the truck and not the front? You better add a drivers seat because I don’t recommend touching the engine (that should be in the instructions!).
All three engines are shoved as far back as possible for weight distribution (more weight on the rear tires = better traction) and shorter drive lines (shorter drive components = less mass and better power to weight ratios). That way I can play with ballast at the front (if needed) for optimal balance.
I suppose I really should put in a driver’s seat too, but it’s pretty far down on the list right now. I still have a bunch of fun stuff to do! :)
The front tires are ridiculously wide for a drag vehicle for one thing. :D
Those pictures are great! If I saw that in real life my jaw would drop and I’d start laughing.
But it is a very clean and well done installation. That’s not usually my favorite GTO year, but the builder has done a great job with cleaning it up and making the stance just right.
great even thogh its a shame using a truck as a dragster
and all of you what about models to the contest so don is not getting bored there totally alone
Thanks Michael! Yeah, trucks don’t really make sense as dragsters, but I wouldn’t spend the time to work on a Top Fuel or Funny Car model. Modeling helps me to relax and keep my spirits up!
Since this “vehicle” is for the drag strip only I don’t worry about the road laws. :)
Just like everyone else, I ran out of time before I could get all of my plans done, but I did:
- Add the giant “Funny Car” type wings – Cleaned up the engine cover – Cleaned up the inside of the other body parts – Added a front suspension “cheat”
That’s all for this Challenge. Good luck to everyone who can win!!
Thanks Alfred. The engineers owuld have a lot of work to do on this “Fantasy” truck! :)
angkiapriliandi, you can just click on the tag (3dviachallenge17) right under the image and it will show you the real entries. I can’t enter (because I work here), so I’m just entering for fun.
Whoa! Good thing it has those drag chutes to stop the thing!
Any chance we can get the motor or even the “zoomies” as Shape models by themselves? Left and right separate so we can move them around? Picky, picky, I know.
Why, thank you Oscar. I didn’t get in all the detail that I wanted, but just plain had fun! Yes, the Cadillac Le Mans LMP always seems to be the last to be worked on, but it is not forgotten…
- Changed wheels completely – Fixed directional arrows on tires – Flat-spotted tires – Angled front wheels

Awesome Don!…Wow, not one,not two, but three Blowers!!!
hey don, check out this picture

…can that even be done?
Thanks Shannon! I had the long chassis and I figured I’d stuff in as many as I could. It’s got a lot of weight to haul down the strip.
Excellent picture! I guess it has been done – at least once – if it runs and still exists is another question. :D
Crazier things have been done!
Here’s some more pictures of it.

Then why don’t you make a model of it! Haha I don’t think so. Not with those on the front! But maybe the car itself…
The GTO would be a blast to make, but it would take a considerable amount of time. Hmm…if I ever finish…and then finish…
I know I can’t win the Challenge, but have added this to the pool to liven things up.

are it really legal to the engine covering most of the window
in dane mark you are not allowed to do that

the cool one
it looks aerodynamic
from the decription, it is still in progress, I definitely wanna looked the final model
Thanks angkiapriliandi! It certainly isn’t wind tunnel tested and a truck is kinda’ hard to make aerodynamic looking, but I’m having fun trying. :)
More work has already been completed (including a FOURTH engine, but it’s not quite ready to upload yet.
Some new changes:
- Couldn’t keep the 4th engine (too much front suspension interference – Exhaust zoomies and more detail on the engines – Slight mods to engine cover
Have made a bunch of progress on other bits and pieces, but they’re not quite ready yet. :)
very nice noob
Hmm… funny to call Don a noob… How long have you been an industial designer yourself?
If one’s intent is to keep the model simple, then it infers nothing about the user’s experience level. :)
Hvis én hensikt er å holde modellen enkel, så det infers ingenting om brukerens opplevelse nivå. (for tull)

great truck Don :) Engineers might spend some time to get those engines synchronized :)
its look no others drag truck come into circuit yet
so far I choose Don truck

Whoa! Thats a huge wing! :O

Oscar, you’re right about the wings – they’re huge (in the funny “car” tradition – http://www.searchpictures.net/transportation/sports_cars/john_force_top_fuel_funny_car.jpg ) plus this has 4 huge slicks that need a lot of downforce! :)
Don’t forget to check it out when all the body panels are on too – http://www.3dvia.com/dswavely/models/57113A4D5F714355#comDD3A02D3E5F7C9DB – it’s bizarrre. :)

Wahoo! Another week!
Thank you Juan! We already got one more improved truck – http://www.3dvia.com/angkiapriliandi/models/F372DBE9FBCDDFF1
One last set of minor changes before the deadline:
- Added some vents for all that hot engine air – Added a second element to the wings
Good luck everyone! (I know I can’t win, it’s just fun!)
Whoa! Good thing it has those drag chutes to stop the thing!

Holy crap this got amazing! :O This is a Donmodel alright :D
Now we are just waiting for your Le Mans car to get finished. ;)
Why, thank you Oscar. I didn’t get in all the detail that I wanted, but just plain had fun! Yes, the Cadillac Le Mans LMP always seems to be the last to be worked on, but it is not forgotten…
…oh yeah, billybob – I’ll put your requests in the queue, they shouldn’t be hard to do.
