Congratulations! Your model is included as one of today’s "Featured Content: Staff Picks" on the home page – www.3dvia.com/

Excellent modeling! Interesting design too! Does the hub in the front wheel change the gearing so that it is appropriate for the conditions or is it direct drive all the time?

Thanks, the front hub contains a continuously variable transmission, so it can shift into any ‘gear’ you need.

I exported the model from solidworks, but I was a bit disappointed about the colors and textures. Do you have any tips about how that might be improved?

That makes sense to keep the gearing in one neat package.

The SolidWorks to 3DVIA color/texture translation is always being improved, but I have found that I usually have to go into the material "Advanced>Illumination" and reduce the "Specular amount" and the "Specular spread" in order to keep materials from looking blown out on 3DVIA.

SolidWorks and 3DVIA also only support one texture/color per surface. If you have multiple textures it will look fine when you see the thumbnail on 3DVIA, but then when you "Play 3D" the textures and the surfaces will disappear. Grrrrr! It is being worked on, but is not fixed yet. You can see this problem easily in this model: http://www.3dvia.com/models/0EB2340416283A0C/3dvia-composer-cadillac-lmp#

Did you have other problems as well?

Ok, I have fixed the color issue and updated the 3D model. The material has to be added in the top assembly in Solidworks to work. I have also removed the internal parts of the CVT in this model, and added another 3D model with a exploded view of the front hub.

It looks a bit difficult to steer, but it’s cool looking, if you can handle it.
This model looks awesome in the Cartoon shader. Switch it and then get a view behind the back tire, then drag the mouse a little to the right to get a view from the left. A gallery quality photo.

Congratulations on the Merit Award! That’s impressive since much of the world is so sophisticated with their bicycles.

Glad that the fixes worked and thanks for putting up the Gallery shots – excellent!
