wish I had more time to do it up right,. But will be out of town for a few days, so here is my entry for the Dragster contest. Funny, both the stock 3ds max 9 polygon counter and Polygon Count plug in say I am 14,815 polygons. Maybe 3dvia is counting tri's? But anyway, most of this rides details are in the suspension and drive line. Full Four-Link and a small block Chevy mated to a Turbo 350 with 6-71 blower on top. Think I will make a high poly version of this for fun.

The 3DVIA poly count is in triangles. Anyway, I don't think anyone made it under 15k so it shouldn't be a problem! Anyway, nice model. I love the rear tires.

Thank you, but you should see it with the hood off. Its got a blown 350. As life like as I could make it and still shoot for 15k polys. Tris are half a poly, so two tris make one poly. I was under 15k polys, did it on purpose. I have a feeling that the software they use to convert it so we can see it is breaking it completely apart, but holding its smooth property. IE its breaking every polygon in two, so that is what is running our poly counts way up. I will upload one of the weapon models I did for SAS and see where it is sitting, that will give me an idea. But if the goal was to stay under 15k tri's, wish they had said that I would have put all the work into the body and wheels and hid the rest except the blower.

Thanks again.

AWESOME MODEL! The driveline detail is absolutely great! It's always the first thing that I look for - is there any detail that shows the modeler really knows their subject. Polygons be dam%$#$ed. I would love to see this as a chassis model to show off the detail even more - how 'bout it? Keep this one as your Challenge entry, but put up another version minus the body for the detail whackos like me...

Drag racing has been in my blood since the mid-60s (last century) and getting my issue of Car Craft magazine was the highlight of my month! Then along came the GT40 and Jim Hall's Chaparrals and I was lost to "sporty cars" forever.

@dswavely

I am a gear head for life. I have a Monte SS in my garage and a S10 I am thinking about pro streeting in my drive way. Its been in my blood sense the early 70s, so I know the feeling. Used to race back in the day. Having a family of my own kind of killed my racing. Family first, now they are grown time for me to start playing again. Now we know why all the old guys have the nice rides. they have all the kids gone from home and nothing left to spend money on.

Thanks again,
Rob

Gear heads unite! I put up my comment here before your detailed comment showed up, so this two-model-time-delayed conversation is getting weird. We lived in LA in the 60s and the family owned a '57 Chevy station wagon that I was looking forward to hotting up a bit, but then we moved east and the Chevy was sold ($150) and my dream went with it. Never did get to do any racing, but drove school busses and dump trucks in high school - that doesn't really count. Same story with family first for me. Still don't have anything nice, but maybe sometime. Play some for me too!

Excelent work, the effort and knowledge of the vehicle really shows in this model. And the modeling itself is clean and profesional while aiming for the 15k poly. Full marks from me!

Just took a look at the suspension model... you did a great job with the details on this model, and also an excellent job keeping the polys low.

Thanks all. Its what I like to do, vehicles and weapons. Guess I can upload some of my weapons and vehicles. Have a drive full, but will only upload the ones worthy. LoL. Make them down loadable. Didn't do it with this model or the suspension, just because I have so much time in them, not sure I wanna just give them away. anyway, thanks again, have to see how this goes.

Thanks
