In the 3DVIA Player, if you own the model, you can middle click on the surface that you want to be the bottom of the model, then while still holding the middle button down move over the "Repositioning" tool (at about 8:00 on the dial) and release the mouse button.

The model will then reposition itself and if you save that setting by holding down the middle mouse and moving over the "Save the current settings" tool (at about 9:00 on the dial) and release the button, then you and everyone else will now see the model the way you want.

If you don't own the model you can still do this while viewing the model in the Player, but you can't save the settings.

It's very handy when your model comes in at an odd angle, but if you only have curved surface on the bottom of your model, it can be frustrating too.

I discovered this by accident. It's the button on the mouse you use to scroll. You have to hold down the repositioning button.

he tomy, great instructions: I tried on one of my own models: http://www.3dvia.com/alfredix/models/C6CCABFCCEE0F2C4
do me a favour please, can you check if the model is now correctly oriented. It was also sort of flipped to the side a bit.
thanks.
if you see it in correct angle, then saving also works in FireFox :)
