It has remained in its current condition for almost 400 years. Unlike other Japanese castles, this one has not been damaged by warfare--and that includes WWII. The "White Heron" castle was originally constructed in 1333, but later improved by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and later by Terumasa Ikeda, a son-in-law of Tokugawa Ieyasu."
