Hi Just A quick question. How did you extract the textures from the 3dxml file. Also have you found that when you do a 3d prinstscreen within guild wars, it captures the content with a slightly squashed scale. Did you capture the character on it own or did you get th entire scene level and then remove the data you didn't want?

Have you managed to export the 3d data and the textures with texture coordinates into any other 3d format. E.G. .obj or even .3ds ?

Cheers and thanx

Antonio

Hi Antonio,
This video shows how to clean up the 3DPrintScreen data capture: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6e6dQCO9T0
In practice I have found 2 other techniques that can help a lot.
1. Turn on the 3D PrintScreen "Group by Textures" option. If you are having a problem with many objects being linked/grouped together, then this will usually solve the problem.
2. Hide the data that you want to show. Then use the Hide/Unhide switch to show all the hidden data. This technique will allow you to recapture 3D PrintScreen data for an individual object within a very complex scene (with 1000s of objects)

I haven't experimented with moving the data into other formats. However, you could look at other 3DPrintScreen tools to see how they work.

I have seen the scale/aspect ratio distortion, but don't know why it happens. It seems to depend on the underlying 3D graphics engine. Applications like SecondLife and WOW (World of Warcraft) don't have this problem, and the captures are precise (and very beautiful !)

Nice capture. Your model would make a great addition to the Video Games group that I'm trying to get started. If you want to contribute, join the Video Games group and submit your model. Here is a link:
