@Don - This time we are trying to show some of the historic & cultural beauty of India that is not known to the rest of the world. My guess most people know India as the place of TajMahal but ther are so many things exist that is not so popular & not known. This model is to highlight one of the historic transportation system of India - Tram Car.

This is the most detailed model I have ever made. You need to zoom-in to find out. Starting from seats - fans - lights - control room -wiper - rare view mirror - TV -music system - DON'T forget to look at the back of the Tram for the "Slumdog Millionaire" poster. This movie (based on slum life) got huge success, appreciation & OSCARS.

I kept one of the window open so that it will help while zooming in for interior view. Enjoy :)

LCD-TV in a tram!!! LOL :D India truly shining !!?
jokes apart... very well done model...

["India Shining" is a slogan used by Congress (a major political party), while Calcutta is traditionally known for pro-Communist stance... so its ironical... if you don't get the joke just forget it... :) ]

I donot find any humor with LCD monitor in a Tram. now a days LCD is easily available & can be found in everywhere, even in busses so why not in a tram after all CTC company is a Government company & this is the latest model of Tram that are running on tracks. You can search in google for latest trams of Kolkata & will find this one.

please forgive my ignorance... the only trams i've seen are in movies... more specifically "Yuva"... never knew that even trams are being upgraded...

however i like the oldies... they are the 'real' heritage... bring nostalgic emotions...

modernization is good... and i guess there is good network of metro's in calcutta... and newer trams would also help in public transportation... but when it comes to public transport nothing can beat bombay's locals and best buses... i'm a die hard fan of locals...

Fabulous model! 5 Stars! Great details and thanks for the introduction. Many places here in the US have "trams" and "trolleys too!

Wikipedia has an excellent article about trams - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tram

Bizarrely enough, my sister has spent her entire career working on promoting and developing Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) systems, particularly in Los Angeles, Pasadena and Orange county in California.

(My sister is not bizarre, just the fact that her love of trolleys matches this model so well is) :D

Its really great to hear about the passion of your sister to promote LRV. Believe me in India Tram car is only available in Kolkata (a state of India) & also dieing because it is not so profitable. Keeping this view in mind government has introduced latest models of Tram to attract tourists. Hope their effort will be successful. Like US our trams are not so advanced. The model I made is replicating almost exact view of Kolkata Trams.

LRV systems make so much sense in so many places. I'm surprised that India doesn't have a well-developed network in each city! Are they too crowded to allow the disruption?

Don your guess is correct but there are more reasons to that
1. They are very slow compare to bus/trains available (this is important)
2. They are used for short journey so incase you want to travel long forget about tram
3. Because of huge crowd on road it often create traffic jam & you have to pray to god to get some space to go to office.
4. Its not profitable to government so they don't have plans to develop more or to allow in other cities.
My reasons are based on trams available in Kolkata, I am not sure about the trams in your city.

Back to your earlier comments Parth - I'm not an expert, but it seems all of your reasons are good ones in a very densely populated area. Many parts of the US are less densely populated and/or they run most of their "trams" and "trolleys" in underground systems.
