i am not good at music instruments and looking at all the models entered in the contest i wont even try.. i also belive this one is the best of them all and could look like a winner.. I want make any model for the competisions for now i think i have a tendensy to make to must efort in the model so it gets to complex.. Sorry.. strange but i have noticed that compared to many of the other contest so is the model sizes in this contest a hole lot bigger than the usal file sizes.. i also is working on a lot of new models so i have enoug to do. is working on... a transport ship (Bulk Carrier) with cranes.. a ocean trawler (fishing boat ).. a viking ship called a longship or more presize a dragon ship.. - a Saipem pipe layer vessel. the biggest container ship in the world the danish ship Emma Maersk.. a new dragon model of the european type (wild creature just made a kill..).. A chinese dragon type.. severel new troll/Ogre heads (4) for my new troll or beast body... a goa, Ull'd stargate model.. plus some new dragon heads i have seen in the many many dragon art pictures i have found..

Large file sizes are usually because of textures. In this model JackRed has done everything in polygons and shaders, so the model has a high polycount but low file size. A model with many individual images as textures will have a large file size. You can control this by fitting all those diffrent images into one texture map. To do this you have to create and arrange your UV's then combine all the images in photoshop using a UV snapshot as your guide.

Agree that texture files cause file size problems, I stick with embedded colors although the right way to do it is with DDS (Direct Draw Surface Technology) and free DDS plugins for PhotoShop and Gimp are available on the web.

Yes but why do it with PS or Gimp when we can do it just with Max or Blender :p
