I am having a little fun with abaqus/explict and modeling a gelatin bendo (http://www.3dvia.com/homebray/models/3D4E61330517293B) being hit by a speeding steel ball. This one is an attempt to show an animation in 3DVia. I composed several frames from the animation.
The animation can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkYTDpK3_Ko

i see squished people!
that poor guy is hit where it hurts the most. But from an animation point of view: great !!! :)
LOL! yeah, I took a cue from “America’s favorite home videos” (sorry to those who don’t know what that is) —- it’s always funny when some gets hit there :)
5 Stars for having fun, trying new things and making us laugh!!
Ooops, I forgot to suggest that you join and then add this to the Humor Group: http://www.3dvia.com/groups/group_home.php?groupId=AEAD92A4B6889AAC
@homebray: it’s always funny if it happens to somebody else :)
btw. i know that show. we have something like this on TV in Germany. I think a lot of clips are copied from the US series. great stuff!!!
Maybe you can add a painful face to your animation sometimes :)
@billybobsue: I hadn’t explored groups before. I added it to humor, I also created a physics group to collect models that are physics related. Thanks.
A physics-related group is a great idea!
As you say “A group dedicated models created using physics engines, FEA, CFD or …….”
I joined and hope to see some cool new stuff. Some of the CFD models in particular are phenomenal. Now we just need to go find some…
Congratulations homebray! Your model has been included in the 16th weekly Top 10 models blog with pictures and links to your model.

Hey, Homebray, That is a cool way to capture motion. I could imagine, however, that having a way to support animations natively would be a big help!
