You really are getting better and better at this! Keep going!
For other viewers, compare this with guillen25’s first try – http://www.3dvia.com/guillen25/models/2FADD02537091B2D
and his second effort – http://www.3dvia.com/guillen25/models/A3994599ABBD8FA1
That’s great progress. :D
Many thanks for your kind comments!. Many flaws however Uriel my son quite like it as well. Next model must be a bit better thanks to your motivation. Camaro? Mustang?.
You’re welcome. It is wonderful to see you and Uriel getting better! Don’t worry about flaws, just keep trying. As you you’ve probably learned, boxier vehicles are easier than really curvy ones, so try something that you’re comfortable with. :)
Nice where did you get the textures? Note: try finding another image for the other side, the text is backwards. Anyways, nice job!
Thanks again Dswavely. I´ve got to get more skills about making round edges. I will check the video tutorials about it. Luckily the Camaro is a nice car yet very squared though.
Tomy, I´ve got only this one-side pic from the internet. The 360° view from the jeep site gives you pics with a very asymmetric result, unfortunately.
Cars are very complicated, so keep learning a little each time and you’ll do great.
3DVIA user Shodiq38 has put together a fantastic video on building a car from the beginning using Shape – http://www.3dvia.com/blog/user-submitted-tutorial-building-a-car-in-3dvia-shape/ – I watch it several times a day and learn from it.
If you take it step by step in little bits, you can learn a lot in combination with the video tutorials – http://www.3dvia.com/blog/3dvia-shape-30-tips-and-tricks/ – I keep referring back to these tips too.
If you have a digital camera, you can take your own pictures of cars you’d like to model and then upload them as textures. It is best to try to get a little farther away from the car and use the zoom on your camera so that your pictures will have less distortion. The more zoom you have, the less wide-angle fishbowl effect you will have.
Very nice. Maybe you should try a W124 Mercedes-Benz E Class? It is probably the boxiest Mercedes ever :) Blueprints can be found on www.the-blueprints.com
Also, Don 3dvia shape has a line tool, a scal tool, a move tool and a copy tool right? If it does, then i could post a video of my skp technique…
DSwavely, I´ve just checked the tutorial of shodiq38 and he´s amazing. Now I know some fine techiques to make a really stylish car. Thanks for that. The hard part is to learn them. he, he.
Having photos from cars is an excellent idea and I appreciate the tip for taking the pictures.
nice man!
i must say this is great improvement… hoping to see more cars from you :)
@guillen25 – I’m glad that you found the suggestions helpful. It is so valuable to learn from each other!
@Mr_Planet – Yes, you’re right about Shape having the tools that you mentioned. It would be great to have a video of your technique!!! All help is welcome.
Cliff Medling ( http://www.3dvia.com/users/cmedling ) is the guy to contact – maybe he can do a blog post like the one for shodiq38.
Thanks for offering!
Ok, thanks! As i do not have admin privileges i can only post a vid in SketchUp is that ok?
If you work with Cliff tomorrow, he’ll help you with what works best. He also does 3DVIA TV ( http://3dvia.tv/user-submitted-tutorial-building-a-car-in-3dvia-shape/ ), which may be another place for him to post it. He knows way more about it than I do.
Thanks Mr Planet, I´ve seen your models and they´re superb. It´ll be nice to have your tutorials. Cheers.
Congratulations guillen25! Your model has been included in the 45th weekly Top 10 models blog as an “Honorable Mention” with a picture and a link to your model.
Go to http://www.3dvia.com/blog/3dvia-top-10-models-045/ to check it out!
Mr_Planet, maybe you could show Cliff your technique, then get him to do it in shape?
Thanks a million for your message Dswavely!!!. I feel honoured among those many excellent models in 3Dvia. I will keep improving my skills. By the way please post your comments (whatever they are) on my models “Camaro” and “Dark Prowler”.
You’re welcome guillen25. I really appreciate your continuing effort to improve! I try not to pretend that I am a Shape expert, but I’ll take a look at your other models. :D
Very well done!
