    Hi all,
the BB "Look At" in Studio has one parameter less. In fact the "following speed" is not present in the dialog box of the BB. If used applied to a camera this leads to an immediate changing of the view and the effect is horrible.
Is there a way to avoid this and have the old smooth effect that we had in virtools?
    Thanks,
    Roberto

    Hi Robertor,

I don't think so, but maybe you could use a Look At Constraint ?

Well, it would be the same thins as using a "look at" looking at the same object.
Composing the initial path of my projects usually I navigate the environment plying with paths and "move to" and looking at different objects. So the sequence of different look at is an obliged duty.
We have to think up something ....

    Hello,

You can accomplish the same effect with a few extra steps. The basic concept is to use a "dummy" 3D entity on the look at, then use that dummy's direction to interpolate your camera's direction to it. See attached project for example, hope it makes sense.

If you are doing this a lot, you could package this schematic code up into a higher level building block for ease of use.

I decided to take a little extra time and make this a building block for everyone to use as it seems like a common need in Studio, you can find it here: http://www.3dvia.com/content/DC5CD1D2E4F6C8DA/look-at-advanced

Let me know if you have any problems!

Nice job man! I was using a dummy 3dEntity as you that I could move around following my needs but having everything in a BB it's cool.
I've tried just once and it works great. I'm gonna preserve other comments after a more intense use of it.
    Thanks

Not exactly : there is a member Attenuation in the properties of the Look At Constraint that does exactly what you're looking for.

Anyway, it seems that Iain has solved your issue

I didn't notice it. Iain's solution seems to be more flexible.
    Thanks guys
