hey everybody.. I need some help with a little problem. I can´t export anything to virtools 4.0 from maya 2008 and don't no why.
I've make my way to the virtools website and they only have the exporter for the virtools 4.1.
Can anyone help me??

the exporter for virtools 4.1 works as well for virtools 4 (and even 3.5 if i'm not mistaken).
the file format hasn't change since, it only means the exporter is build with some sources from the 4.1 version

i'm with same problem...i have maya 2008 and Virtools Maya Exporter (4.1.0.42) and i can't activate de virtools plugin...
Error: The specified module could not be found.
(Maya2Virtools2) //

any solution?

Well....Didn't more maya users get the same trouble ? or would someone like to show us the successful experience about running the exporter for maya 2008??

I contacted Virtools, and if reinstalling doesn't work, ensure you have at least DirectX 9.0c. After much trial and error, installing the latest DirectX solved the problem.

Don't show Maya2Vritools2 plug-in Manager.
Try updating directx.

i used to be able to do this with maya but my pc messed up and had to reinstall maya and it don't work, will try updating my directx but as far as i know it is the latest version.

I get the module error as well whenever i try to turn on the exporter in Maya.
I'm running Maya 2008 on Windows XP with DirectX9c installed. I cannot currently use the workaround of exporting as VRML because for some reason, doing so eats my textures whenever i try to re-save as an .nmo
Any other insight into this would be greatly appreciated. I don't have access to an earlier version of Maya to get my files exported.

I am having the same problem! This is code red! I installed Maya 2008 on all the computers because I thought the new export tool would work. Installed new direct X, no imporvement.
Has someone figured this out? I have tried it on several different systems, all have no problems with older versions of maya/export tools

hey ppl i'm having the same problem lol. ARGH!
using maya 2008 and virtools version 4 and i have the latest directX version too. i'm not too sure if i'm exporting correctly though.
can anyone tell me the correct way to do it?

not sure if this is a solution for you guys...
...whenever we install the Virtools exporter for Maya (we are on Maya2008), we MUST tick the box for install to Maya 7 as well as 2008(even though we dont have it installed!). If we dont do this, the install breaks and the pluigin is not available in Maya.
...dont ask me why, its just another example of poor QA imho.
