Changing the Ambient Light Factor affects the small preview render in the properties panel but does not affect the model in the 3D View, even after saving changes. Is this a recent bug or is there another way to use the Ambient Light Factor to adjust the strength of the baked AO on a shader?

It seems to only work with the dfg shader, but it should work with lamberts and blinns.

    Hi Juan,
For me Ambient Color is only active when there is no ambient map defined.
When an ambient map is defined, you can control ambient map level using "Ambient Light Factor" value.
When there is no ambient map, ambient color controls ambient component, knowing that this component can also be affected by an "Ambient Light" source light (and associated color).
    Cheers,
    A/

This is exactly what doesn't work.
Do you have a sample project with this working?

drag & drop a teapot from library, add an omni light, edit teapot material, change Ambient Light Factor: works for me here.

I just tried it with the teapot, still no effect. I am using an ambient light in my scene on version 2.14.391 public beta.

Ok, indeed looks like you need at least one light other than ambient (omni, spot or directional) to make it work. I suppose preview uses a directional or so to render the thumbnail....

I don't understand, to adjust ambient light factor you need something other than an ambient light? Is this a bug or intended?

We are only using an ambient light in our project, and we are controling the strength of the baked ao through the light maps.
