Hi there

I am a bit confused ... I registered as I wished to download and use the cartoon cat Sylvester

http://www.3dvia.com/toymaker/models/5D6EC3536577495B

But I can not get it to work... I have tried importing the DAE into 3dsMax and it doesn't seam to work.. running the thing though the autodesk FXB converter doesn't seam to work either.

Am I miss-understanding the point of this website? As a free resource for meshes?

If I am not how can I import the DAE file into 3dsMax.... I am using 2010, I also own a copy of Modo if that helps. I can not seam to do anything with the 3dXML file either... . .

The error the MAX import give me when i try to import is

While reading or writing a file the following notifications have been raised.
-ERROR: Library not found: #ID1059
-ERROR: Unable to parse xml/dae file

yes I have the latest version installed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I wonder how to find a 3DVIA user by its name/nickname... I tried the global search text field, and it only returns models from this user.

Hi guys,

the forum is still far away from being solid. The Virtools forum is still in a bad shaped compared to the old one. Code and quote layout are often broken. Apparently attachments don't work solid neither (missing or ppl. reporting that it doesn't work).

Moreover the "search" is kinda reduced. The old forum was a solid knowledge resource (like 8 years or so of issues&discussion) , searching it now is not very efficient and reduces productivity.

cheers

Hello Everybody,
I am having trouble with my upload.
i used the new upload page (as usual I upload my zipped STEP files).
i filled the options, added Tags etc. and then finally saved the changes.
Affter that 3DVia says, "changes and Upload saved". that's it.
No queue visible, no alerts, nothing. I am sitting here since 20min, waiting for "My Models" to be updated, nothing.
So I used the old upload page and get an error "parameter not for this comand..." something like this.
Can anybody help me?
thanks

So I'm trying to capture a model from the Dolphin Emulator. The problem is, it captures the mesh perfectly, only without texture mapping coordinates. This is in OpenGL (DirectX isn't an option to capture out of that program).

I have tested this now on three separate PC's and all three yield the same result, a perfect mesh without texture coordinates. Tested it on both Nvidia and ATI graphic boards, and on WinXP 32 bit and Win 7.

But technically it should be possible as I know of one other user who managed to rip the same model with texture coordinates in OpenGL from the Dolphin Emulator (am also asking him for help, but the more help, the better of course!)

I have an Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX, 3 GB RAM, Windows 7 (but tested it also on Windows XP).

Thanks so much!

Hey, I wanted to tell you that I tried to view a DAE model in Google Earth had one of it's textures missing. My guess is that is because that in the DAE file, the textures name was "night sky" but the browser had saved it as "night%20sky" and I know that means a space. For now, I just renamed the image "night sky" but yeah it should be fixed. Just a suggestion because there was no place specifically made for DAE export.

Hello,
I use a high resolution on my laptop (1920x1200) with an "advanced" setting allowing me to enlarge the caracters on my screen : DPI Setting Larger Size : (120 DPI).

In this case, the UI goes all weird because it seems the strings are to big for the place they're allowed to have. I had the same problem with the old version of the site (Congrats by the way, for the new design). Example : The sign in UI on the default home page.

Good luck with that.

This is also an error I have had for a while I am using IE8 and Remember Me is not working on log-in. I remember in firefox it did work it would automatically log me in but in IE doesn't even remember my name. As scenes only works in IE (firefox crashes) it gets pretty annoying. I always check remember me when I come back it is unchecked.
