Wow! This one should have received a lot more notice when it was uploaded awhile ago. It's incredibly detailed and an amazing historic model.

The model is really nice and has a high level of details…
But i don’t like the bug in the Player when the model has a wrong position along the Z axis….I hope the developer will change this

You use CATIA, rimbold, and your models have thumbnails in the correct orientation. Isn’t the Z axix vertical in CATIA too?
Best practices in CAD modeling keeps the Z axis in the vertical direction - just like on almost all manufacturing equipment.
SolidWorks has always had their Z axis horizontal and it drives the Player crazy (check this blog post for how to fix it - http://www.3dvia.com/blog/how-to-import-solidworks-models-into-3dvia/ ).

Parth, yes we can do that in the Player, but if there isn’t a flat surface on the bottom to select, the model can end up looking even stranger.
I think many users just skip over really good models because the thumbnail looks meaningless. We need to be able to change the way our models appear in the thumbnails – after they have been generated .
I have imported models after carefully positioning them to look good in the thumbnail and then they come in backwards or in some other awkward position.
It is difficult for the development team to make it work for so many possibilities, so I think it would be better to provide a utility for the user to reposition and regenerate the thumbnail until they are happy.

I agree on the point that many thumbnail looks bad as a result I skipped them without playing in 3d but later realized that it was my mistake, the model is actually completely different & much better than what it appears :(

amazing detailing and i’m sure it must be a very patient job… excellent…
just curious to know what workbenches did you used to make this beauty??? and did you create the hull in CATIA itself using GSD???
mind-blowing details… close to smike’s ships… he would definitely like this one :)

Don can’t we change the position by repositioning in the player?

I just don’t do this one because it looks like it would make my computer go CRAZY SLOW.
Oh maybe not… I thought it would.
Big to All of you thanks…. I have considered your remarks and have laid out the new version of model
Thanks for making the orientation change! Now it looks even better. :)
This is one of the most detailed models i’ve ever seen! How long did it take you? Incredible!
Yes incredible details. Must be taken a month (at the least). Thanks for sharing with 3dvia

I did model at leisure about three months. Hybrid mode of work was applied. Hull – an external surface carried out means GSD, further Part Design
Yes, three month, that make sense!
