I won’t put any of my own models in the Top 10 anyway, that wouldn’t be fair. Top 10 posts are to spotlight all the great 3DVIA users. :D

That is correct. Only the original modeler and model will be included in the Top 10.

However, if someone uses multiple models in a Shape model it can qualify. For example, your model “Fleet” was in the Top 10 – 002 – http://www.3dvia.com/blog/2008/11/11/3dvia-top-10-models-this-week-111-1172008/ – because it was an excellent example of using Shape to create your own story using freely available models.

I hope this makes sense.

If the model is strictly an uploaded and unchanged model from another 3D model source, it will not be considered for the Top 10, unless it is uploaded by the original modeler. Sandman14 is an example of someone who has many models on both the Google Warehouse and here at 3DVIA. He did the original modeling, so his models are eligible for the Top 10.

If a model is created by someone else and is freely available and is then used in a scene or is modified, then it is eligible. I’m trying to encourage people to use their own imagination and modeling skills to make something new.

Free models from many sources help us all learn and then build on what has already been done.

Simple explanation: If the model is not by you, it will not be in the top ten.
