This is just part of the complete Honda F-1 RA272 race car that Honda allows us to download. You can find more good bits here: http://www.honda.co.jp/WebPlamo/ra272/index.html
I hope to download and put together the whole car, but went for the best parts first :D
Many thanks to DMI ( http://dmi.chez-alice.fr/ ) for the redirect to the Honda site.

Awesome.
don, have you checked the other models on that site. They got lots of 80s and early 90s motorbikes. Great.
Tooooo bad, I can’t use any of those files they offer.
I tried DXF, but no success, no matter which system I tried. And the Light Wav Object I can’t use at all. But I can import your Object file into ProeE.
Is there any free software that can read Light Wave and write Obj?
what did you use?
Thanks – I didn’t do anything except a bunch of translating and lighting adjustments.
Yes, I noticed all the other goodies there, but had to drag myself away…I’ll be back!
Because of all the file formats that we deal with here at 3DVIA, I am lucky enough to have a copy of NuGraf ( made by Okino http://www.okino.com/default.htm ) so that I could translate the lwo file into a 3ds file, which I could then upload into Maya, make my changes and then export as a zipped obj file for best upload to 3DVIA. What a rigamarole! But, it works!
And I just realized I could have saved a bunch of steps by using free Blender ( http://www.blender.org/ ) to import the lwo too. But I’m not familiar enough yet with the interface to verify that it works, so I used what I know.
Maybe you could try it and let us know how it goes – OR – the Blender folks here could help you and me both :P.
Is there any application for mac that can convert 3dxml files to files like 3ds or obj?
Currently there are no known applications that can do that for you :(.
Thanks Don, sounds like a real chunk of work to get those files. I have Blender, but it is not installed. I am very sensitive with installations on my 64bit machine. There is only software installed I work with, well let’s say 90% :)
I’ll try that with Blender on another machine and let you know.
Thanks Alfred, I understand your protection of your key machine! Right now I don’t have SolidWorks installed on anything except my home computer because my other work laptop died and I have to rebuild it from scratch :(. I’ll look forward to any results you may find. You can spread the word to the real Blender users here on 3DVIA!
@ alfredix. Go to http://www.micromouse.ca/ and get Accutrans, it will convert darn near anything to anything. It is a fully functioning , non expiring Demo and only costs $20 USD. I ahve screenshots and a description of it at http://my3dvia.ning.com/forum/topics/file-conversion
at 1.5 mb only the motor block,i don’t think the other parts would fit…(in shape)
@sady2 – The “original file size doesn’t directly correlate with the size that Shape sees when you want to add it to a model. We’ll see how it goes as I add more parts :)
oops – I forgot – @Omind – thanks for bringing up Accutrans! I’m gonna’ have to get it and check it out.
ok guys here is the Deal:
@Omind: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! You made my day :) That is a great tool, and I think it is worth every cent from that 20$.
@Don: I tried a few formats just by loading the LOW from Honda and save as… to several formats. no tuning on seeting, nothing. I think for that the result is quite good. You can see from the models, which format has good results on 3DVia (it is Obj and VRML2) The others may have errors due to setting, I don’t know. here are the links to the models:

Honda, I am coming!!!!!
@Alfred – Thanks for the update. That is great news! Thank you Omind from me too! I had the same experience Alfred. Each part came into the assembly in the correct position when I downloaded and translated them as well. Whoever made the models has their act together.
Sounds like a twenty is headed out of my wallet pretty soon too :).
I did download all the bikes. now I just need to assemble it.
good to know that the positions are good
@Don: the CX500 is already in progress by me. thanks though :)
@Alfred – That’s great! You’ll enjoy it a lot more being able to do it yourself and on your own schedule. Can’t wait to see it!!

This accutrans is soooo cool. I made batch convert to obj and then mult-open (comman in file menu)
and all parts were added to the right position (thank you Honda!!) -> finished.
very nice. Those 20 bucks go to Accutrans with great respect :)
now i see
i didn’t saw the 3dxml size, wich i knew is the size that shape uses, just the original file
@sady2 – no problem :)
Man the detail in this thing is amazing
Hey dswavely I need some inspiration
Give me a word any word
Please comment it so I can use my itouch
Hi dermo95 – sorry for the late inspiration, but at least it is the weekend, so maybe you’ll have more time for fun.
Try using the words in the “Popular Tags” on the home page first. Then, of course, my favorite word would be TRUCK!
Have fun!
