Why don’t you make some more of your own models?
Thanks for asking Tomy. I’m always working on a bunch of different models at the same time, but never seem to get them done. I know SolidWorks pretty well and am decent with Shape, but I’m also learning Maya, SketchUp and a few other programs to try to better understand users’ questions and problems.
I think it is far more important for me to encourage and compliment users like you than to spend that time on my own models. You all deserve the spotlight for being part of the 3DVIA community and sharing with everyone else!
I don’t think I would bother with Sketchup. It is just a copy of shape.
As both Shape and SketchUp improve, it is important to know the differences. At the moment, SketchUp can do things that Shape can’t and it is good for me to understand how and maybe why they do things the way they do
When someone uses SketchUp really well (like Smike) and has a problem related to 3DVIA, I’d like to be able to help him.
I’ve used several CAD systems over my career and have always found it helpful to know how the products that I use compare to those that others use. After all, what I really care about is how cool the results are!
