That's a great idea tomy! Your story is a great start! mvcomputers' "Red Lobster" and the plate that he put it on were really great models - still miss him. Thanks for sticking with us through all the changes! You've been a wonderful addition to the community!

Does anyone else have a story that they'd like to share?

To celebrate, I think that we should all share our stories of how we found 3dvia. Here is mine.
My little sister, Hannah, loves nickjr.com. One day, she needed help, because they had posted a 3d game and (at that time it was called virtools player) was not downloaded yet. So I downloaded it for her. I got curious, so I went to the virtools website, and they had some sample games. Those were the most realistic Internet PC games I think I have ever seen. They were almost beaten by shockwave. Anyways, I wanted more, so I kept playing them. But unfortunately, they kept changing the name. One day, they changed it to "3dvia.com player" so I went to 3dvia.com. But I had no idea what a 3d model was until I used what the player was made for. The only reason I signed up was I saw shape and thought I could make video games with it like the ones that were really realistic. But even if I couldn't, it was probably a lot more fun than that. At the time mvcomputers "Red Lobster" was the most popular model, and phong was a very popular artist. So that was my first comment. The red lobster was the first page I ever commented on. And ever since I first downloaded the "3d life player" I have always thought they should change the name back to virtools. But they have another product called virtools now. So yeah. Note: None of this means 3dvia is confusing.

Users can delete models, make them private and then make them public again at any time. This does not change the date of original publication, so a model can seem to appear from nowhere, when actually the user just made it public again.

Each time you remix/change an existing model it will appear in the recent history list again, but the original publication date still does not change. If you remix and then "Save as" then it will appear as a "new" model.

This also continuously changes the number of models and other things too.

The search lists the models by most popular or by most recently updated, so the last model is not technically the oldest, just the one needed the most commenting love from us :)

Hello 3Dvia team,

congratulations for surpassing the 100.000 user milestone.
you all have done a great job in providing a nice looking and good working environment for all of us "hobby modelers". It is a great place to share the models, discuss with and learn from other people.

Especially for me it is very exiting, becasue 3DVia is THE ONLY place for me to share my models. Due to their size, nobody else can handle them :) Your great 3DXML technology made it possible for me to go public. Thank you very much for this.

Special thanks also to your community managers, who are doing a great job in supporting the users on their daily problems. They always have some great comments and it is always a pleasure to discuss with them.

Keep going guys, it's fun to be here :)

Best regards
Alfredix
