Staying Alive – Saving a Life in Four Minutes

Showing its commitment to combating the issue of heart attacks, Dassault Systèmes proudly presents the online 3D lifelike experience, “Staying Alive,” designed in partnership with iLumens, a medical laboratory from Paris Descarters University. Heart attacks are one of the leading health concerns in the medical industry, taking the lives of more than 250,000 people in the United States and 40,000 people in France each year.

Staying Alive is an online interactive training experience that demonstrates techniques professionals and novices alike can use to save a life in four minutes by following visual instructions.

The training program uses 3DVIA technology, enabling it to be used on any website. Users can even try the online experience on Facebook, competing with friends to save lives.

Staying Alive was created using 3DVIA Studio and is viewable through our popular 3DVIA Player web browser plugin. A team of two 3D artists and one programmer completed the two training scenarios in under three months—an impressive achievement for such a high-quality result.

The virtual training also features products developed in partnership with Dassault Systèmes, namely Philips HearthStart (HS1) portable defibrillator. It was specifically designed for use by non-professionals, making it the perfect tool for the masses.

  1. It looks great, but I could not get past the first screen – I tried clicking everywhere, right clicking, clicking on all the icons, It was not evident at all what I was supposed to do. This looks great but could not make it work. Also its all French, which is fine, but I wanted to cut and paste the text into a translator (google translate) but could not copy it.

  2. Hello Frederick,

First, thank you for your comment.

In fact, there is two versions, one in French and one in English.
You should not use the direct link to the level 1 and level 2.
    Jdelrio, please remove them.

Frederick, please use the StayingAlive website, you will be able to choose the English version.

If you are lost, here is the first step of the Level 1:
    – The application is loading, please have a look at the loading bar. It may take several minutes depending of your internet connection. Be patient.
    - Then you have some popup dialogs telling you what to do and the rules.
    - Popup dialogs disappears automatically.
    - Then Stephane, the victim, is falling to the ground
    => the game start.
    - The first action is to click on the victim (left mouse button).

    Hope this help.

  3. Excellente application d’utilité publique !

    Son usage devrait-être obligatoire. :)

Je n’ai pas pu tourner autour du défibrillateur pour voir l’étiquette de la deuxième électrode… Je l’ai placée au hasard du coup.

Il n’est plus question de bouche à bouche pendant la ré-animation ?
