Video – Create a 3D Floor plan

Floor plans on 2D sheets cannot give you a real feel of how a room will ultimately look.  You can’t see the walls or furniture as they will actually appear in real life.  This video details how easy it is to create a 3D floor plan for a very realistic view of any area:

This is very simple to do, and a great way to view any office space or room.  We used this model to determine furniture placement and wall colors at our new office.

  1. My favorite so far! Nice work…

  2. ……..sketchup lite?

  3. You forgot one important thing. If you texture things before pushing and pulling them, that push and pulled object will have that texture. So it would probably be better to texture the ground where the walls will be before pulling them up.

  4. Good point Tomy. I could have changed the texture of the ground before extruding the walls. I kept them on here so I could still see the location of the doors.

  5. And you also might want to make that song a loop, it is completely obvious that it starts over in the middle of the video.

  6. you can also import 3d KML-type floorplans into GermaniumWeb (germanium3d.com) and hack up multi-floor 3D floorplan guide using the javascript API.
