Nothing fills you with more dread that comming around an asteroid after finishing off those pesky scouts than coming face to face with a battleship.  I speak from experience!  From X-wing vs Tie-fighter all the way to Descent: Freespace and Taychion the Fringe and of course as I commanded my armada in the Homeworld series.

If more than one model receives the same score, each model with the same score will be designated as a Winner and will receive the same prize.

I’ve come to the conclusion that our community members are waayyy too savvy to have a 3rd party voting system.   I mean you guys can find your way around everything! And I mean that as a compliment.  So as you all saw in our voting post, our savvy users, after “robust testing” found a way to make their votes count. Unfortunately this invalidated the veracity of the user voting section, so I had to recruit extra judges to get a good average opinion on our new Challenge Champion.  Wow did we have a close race, for a while I was redoing my calculations multiple times because I couldn’t believe my eye’s!   In the end, Emmy’s vote card pushed the winner ahead and our new Champion rose from a crowd of excellent challengers.   Join us in congratulating Ilovegoodcheese in winning the 3DVIA Challenge!

I saw the Transformers 2 movie and I loved it!!  Easilly the most entertaining movie of the summer. Sorry everyone for the voting Snafu, but we forged on, and everyone was excited to be judging the challenge… Until they had to choose the winner!  The presure was on!  After careful consideration and much deliberation the judges ruled FatherT3D’s model the winner!  This model went above and beyond the call of the challenge, not only providing a crate created from reusable materials but also an easily assembled desk.   With so many uses, including the potential to have an instant classroom from these crates, FatherT3D amazed us, and has become the new 3DVIA Champion!

3DVIA Challenge 7: Jack-o-Lanterns!

Welcome Back one and all to the 3DVIA Challenge!  This week we are doing Jack-o-Lanterns.  I lit mine on fire but I don’t encourage anyone to try that unless it’s virtually :). You guys got till October 29th to show us your best, scariest, or detailed pumpkin! No limits on polygon sizes, lay it on and lets find out who will be our new CHAMPION!!

2. Upload Your “Jack-o-Lantern” Model by Wednesday October 29th
Starting on October 17th and running through October 29th 2008, upload your best Jack-o-Lantern to 3DVIA. Only new to 3DVIA and original work will be considered, 1 submission per user, NO team entries.

3. Tag Your 3D Model “3DVIAChallenge7″
Tag your model with the keyword 3DVIAChallenge7 – you must use this exact tag to enter.

>> How this challenge will be judged:

1. Voting on this challenge will take place on October 30th.
We will not have a Finalists Week on this Challenge. All entries will be judged between October 29th and October 30th.  Judging will be done by our 3 Judges in 3 categories.  The 3 Categories are:

Artistic Design- Eye catching design, the coolness of the model.
Technical Accuracy – Mechanical or realistic accuracy and detail
Modeling Efficiency – Polygonal construction, modeling skill.
