Although I am probably biased, there is a great article on TIME.com today featuring a certain 3D content site that you may have visited recently. Please check out the Thomas Grose 3D Comes to Web 2.0 article that is all about your very own 3DVIA.com.

“The hosted services and communities of Web 2.0 already amount to an entirely new form of communication. But now a new site called 3DVIA.com is taking the social-networking concept to another dimension — both literally and, well, virtually.” [ Read the Full Article ]

VIDEO - 3DVIA 3D Models and Photoshop CS3 Extended

3Dcollage, Free 3D Models, General, Video No Comments »

Ben Harper, web design guru and owner of Templamatic, posted a great video screencast on how to import the free 3D model content found on 3DVIA.com into Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended.    Since it references 3DVIA, I thought I would pass it along and see what you think.

In short, Photoshop Extended allows graphic designers to incorporate 3D content directly into their 2D designs.  This gives you the ability to optimize the position and lighting of an element in your design on the fly.  Photoshop accepts .3ds, .obj and .dae files among other formats readily available for free right here on 3DVIA.com.

If you do not have Photoshop, why not try a similar functionality in our own free 3Dcollage?  All you need is a Facebook account and the 3Dcollage app.  You can read all about it here.
