Ok, here it´s the precise procedure:

1) Select the object to copy.
2) Press Ctl-C.
3) Move the mouse where you aim to position the copied object.
4) BEFORE and only before clicking the left-button of the mouse, press Space bar.
5) Now the flip handles appear.
6) Select the proper handle for your need.
7) Select and click the reference point from the copied object.
8) Select and click the reference point from the original object.
9) Done.

I agree with Jacob, I would suggest this as one of the very few flaws of the software. It is a matter of luck to realize about this simmetry button.

one more think,
I think 3dvia shape tool is excellent and it target well the general user. the problem is that once objects are created and published they are not exploitable any where. When I pass hours creating a complex object (even if at the beginning is for fun) I would eventually want to be able to useit some where else (my graphic design, my web site for showing my house, my tuorial for ilustrate the building of something, etc) On 3Dvia site they are only for fun and remember, any “toy” always finish by boring and put it away.
So I thnig next step in 3dvia should be make it usable in an external context in a natural way. (I know it exist 3dvia Printscreen and others, but the transition is not natural for the “general” user)

Execellent.
Thinks to improve to make it perfect:

- Free Move on a plane (Not only over axis)
- 4 Plane views (xy, yz, xz, isometric)
- more intelligent deform tool (some times is disbled when it could gues what to do)
- pre created objects: ex: cones, truncated cones, pridamids.
- to be able to save and reload my own precreated objects (when you insert an object from teh 3Dvia site you lost the components information and the object can only be used as a whole)
- To be able to create simple object animations (along some time it becomes boring working only on static objects even for “grand Public”)

Hey sady!! I guess ctrl+X is for cut-paste. when you press ctrl+X it will cut (not erase) & then pres ctrl+V to paste it in another location. I used this a lot.

Try not using Google CHROME, for me even Internet explorer didn’t worked, when I wished to see the models in 3D, but you can use Mozilla Firefox, it would ask you to download plug in

I can’t figure out how to get the flip handles (symmetry tutorial) or how to change the anchor point (pattern tutorial). Any tips?

For the firewall and several other reasons, we will have an alternate version hosted here on one of our servers for users that need it. It should take a bit to convert and we will update this page when it is ready.

It’s primarily for marketing purposes that the videos are hosted on YouTube. 3DVIA Shape’s initial targeting is for consumers and more mass market that our typical software offering. However, we are seeing more business users showing interested in how simple it is to use.

In the meantime, is there a particular practice or video that you would like fast tracked for your viewing? You can also post a question here or in the 3DVIA Shape group. We are more than happy to help anyone learn.

Can you post videos on your domain like 3Dvia Composer blog makes is 3DMojo Video Podcasts so we who are stranded behind company firewall can see videos also.

I have the flash plug-in, but it is saying "Movie not loaded..." checked the source and it’s pointing to youtube Our company policy is block everything so no surprise that YouTube is blocked
