1. I have lots of queries: What’s the difference with this one with asteroid challenge ???http://www.3dvia.com/blog/call-to-action-asteroids/ ????
2. Is there any prize for winning??
3. What will happen if someone submit model on 1st Feb/2nd Feb?? Will you allow??
4. For shape users we still cant publish model beyond 11mb and for others they can upload upto 25mb??
5. Can someone please explain me what kind of truck models are expected for this challenge?? Truck for drag racing..?? Any image to show me…
Hey triple X :)
1. This is the main challenge, 3-4 week in duration, The asteroid mini challenge is a 1 week duration task.
2. As soon as I offer a prize I have to restrict who can join, we are also waiting to get a voting system up so that the community members can vote for the winner. I have however been communicating with 2 groups to offer a diffrent kind of prize for these challenges, as soon as I have some time to iron out the details, I can reveal the reward. For now this is a skill challenge, open to all, for fame.
3. No, that is the time were I get everyone in the office to vote, new additions would be unfair.
4. We’ve brought this up, and the Shape 11mb restriction is being removed in the next update to 3DVIA Shape. I’m still trying to find out when that update will happen, soon as I get an answer I will share it with the community.
5. Racing Big Rigs, Semi’s, Trucks. The really big trucks that move the shipping containers, modified for racing, so all about power and speed.
I know what trucks are but I’ve no idea what the term “Drag Racing Behemoths” means!? or what “drag racing” is!What are they really?
And what kind of trucks are expected ?
Sorry if thats confusing, I called them Behemoths because they are the largest vehicles on the road. The big container trucks, semi’s and big rigs, modified for speed and power and used for drag racing.
Watch the video !
Thank you for the explanation! No need to apologize. It is just that we do not hear such terms around here. Yes I watched the video, thanks for linking that too.
One last question, How can I convert .max files to a supported format?
I’m going to start making a model right now and it would be a real waste if I can’t upload it!
Thanks again
You can export as an obj model or download the free Collada Maya exporter for a DAE file.
I suggest the DAE file as it is a newer format and very widely used.
I use maya myself :)
Ment Collada Max free exporter for DAE file :)
Thanks I’ll do that
you export (File ¬ export ) the mesh as a .3ds or any other supported file and
“To upload a textured 3D model, please pack all the materials in one zip file (supported formats for textures are .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .png, .tga, .pcx, .tif).
For upload conveniency, you can also pack several 3D models in one zip file”
(Upload warning from the upload section http://www.3dvia.com/upload)
Thanks
Had no luck with DAE format
So used .3ds to export and zipped with materials
Rocket and jet trucks are nothing but showboats! Real trucks have ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) power. :)
We already have one good entry, so ya’ better get a move on!
PS This Challenge was a real surprise to me. I’m working on my drag truck to keep my sanity. So I’ll enter it, but it won’t be eligible.
PSS Visit the Truck Group ( http://www.3dvia.com/groups/group_home.php?groupId=D563F9CBDDEFC1D3 ) for more ideas on what trucks can look like.
I’m in to the challege
