Hello Juan,
Great to see the return of Challenge….Just have few queries:
1. What is the result of Challenege17?? Who won??
2. In Most of the challeneges you gave 3 weeks to 1 month time…this time its just 2 weeks!!! Dont you think its much less time for competition….
3. If someone publish model on 19th April or after that will you accept it?
4. Can we upload more than 11mb models from 3dvia shape now? or is it still in process??
I will be waiting for your answer & confirmation…….
I’ll be making a post to settle the Challenge 17 Winnner today.
Challenges tended to be a month long because of the week long voting process. But we are still waiting for a secure voting solution, so all voting is now internal, with double the amount of judges.
All Challenges tried to give minimum 2 weeks modeling time and maximum 2.5-3 weeks. I want to keep it at 2 weeks to allow for more challenges.
We will definitly admire any model entered after the submition deadline but it will not be considered for the Challenge winner title as it won’t be fair to other contestants.
I will check the status of the Shape upload and post another reply with the answer shortly.
this is my first time to try to participate in this kind if contest. I would like to know what is the prize for the winner, and which file formats are allowed to upload, for example are allowed .ma .mb .3dm .obj . and the texture formats .jpg thanx in advance and sorry for my english
Welcome rockr86ds!
When we started the challenge we gave out prizes, but due to the contest guidelines we had to restrict the entry into the challenge to a smaller crowd for legal reasons. You do get some fame for winning the Challenge Championship, your name and winning entry in the newsletter and a permanent blog and place in the 3DVIA Hall of Champions. Pretty soon you’ll also get a special badge on your avatar !!
Ahh a fellow Maya user, very nice! I suggest you use the Collada DAE Exporter and upload using the dae format. It support alot more options than .obj.
You can download the free plug in here:

Hi, .obj is allowed, yes, but I’m not sure about any of the other file formats you mentioned. You’re English is fine!
Are included models allowed?
Sure, but only your own original work will be considered for the Challenge.
This could be a good challenge. I’m excited to see the entries.
You can continue working on the model once published, if the deadline not expired?
Correct, nothing is considered final till deadline.
Gracias.
Thank you.
3Dvia.com, You are never on time!!
:)
I do appologize, I did manage to get the graphics done but I was also recording a webinar for 3DVIA Studio and making the next challenge, so things kind of ran together :) The winner will go up shortly :)
:)
any chance that you’ll post the winner of the CAT_Exploding barrels and Challenge 17 winners soon?
What we wanted to do for the exploading barrels was to make them interactive and expload using Studio, but then we got too much into the demos for GDC, This next challenge will restart the Call to Action and I will work right now to finish off those other winner blog posts :)
