  1. many of my models don’t look right on 3DVIA because I use modifiers in blender which are ignored by 3DVIA’s software. Will the model I submit be based on how it looks on 3DVIA, or how it looks with Blender, or even by a render (as they usually look better than real-time graphics can manage)?

  2. What Modifiers get erased? I know I can delete history in maya to accept the deformation from a deformer as permanent and export as dae/ or obj to import into 3DVIA.com, Will that work for blender?

In the interests of fairness, all models are judged by their real-time display using the 3dvia player.

Lets fix it so you can enter your model from Blender, with out any problems :)

  3. I’ll have to apply all the modifiers before I upload it then. Which means the file will be a lot bigger.

  4. Before you upload, you can zip the file, that compression usually helps. If it doesn’t send me the exported file in dae or obj and I can try to finagle it to fit in the upload :)

  7. Nice, no age conditions, so it’s just for fun then. This will be a tough competition!

The winner will get, not only they own page, and sent in the newsletter to 70,000 subscribers but also one of Cliffs T-shirts !! Woot!

  10. I’m working on my own Battleship, its looking awesome. I may even at a later date import the best battleships into a game engine, like Homeworld

  11. Hey where ’s my backup ? when the enemy arrives, am I gonna have to do all the Heavy lifting alone ? Get your ship to the front line

  12. Mine has gone through 4 redesigns as I keep refining my ideas. I should be able to put one up on monday. I’ll let you guys decide if my model counts :)

  13. This is my first time too…. also this was the first time i was working on a fairly big model ….had weird problems with the unpublished model, like disappearing textures when the model was reopened …. in some cases , even lost some textures …. that is … although i could see the texture names ( or texture file names ) the texture looked like just an empty square !!! …. finally found workarounds and was able to publish to today :-)

  14. Can you post these issues on the shape forum? I can help direct the attention of the devs to it and see if we can find a fix.

    I love battleships :)

  15. I tried uploading my own battleship, but its too big for my own site! I manage to get one of the defense guns up. i’ll keep deleting till I can upload. I gotta get them to raise the upload limit.

  16. Final date to upload
The Battleship should be unite today

  17. There is no tab / shortcut available to go to the forum ?? How to check the forum???

  18. I added the latest 5 topics from the forums to the bottom of the blog section, now everyone can find the forums !!

They are also available from the Community tab, then the forum tab :0

The winner has been chosen, I just gotta sneak some time tomorrow and post the winner blog.

How do we follow this challenge? Whats our next one?

  19. We also just rebuilt the User Ranking algorithm! If you go to our search page and search for users, you’ll see our community members ranked by activity :) Its actually a very large mathematical thingy that takes into account how many people comment on your models and so many other things but hell check it out !!
