New 3D Building Models on 3DVIA
3DVIA Shape, Models Spotlight, Virtual Earth January 9th, 2008siege103 from Earthware recently posted some interesting 3D models to 3DVIA that were built using Google SketchUp. The best 2 models he uploaded were the Housing Terrace and Shopping Center models.
My assignment for Chris this week…try creating some of your models using 3DVIA Shape?
Siege103’s 3D Shopping Center
You may remember his great (and honest) review from the Earthware Blog covering the Microsoft Virtual Earth - 3DVIA release and the video he produced on “Creating your first building in Virtual Earth 6“.
To upload your 3D models to our free 3D model hosting service, create a 3DVIA account and enjoy.
Cheers!

Hi guys, Thanks for paying me some attention!
I will build something in shape for you very soon and have it up uploaded for you guys to see.
I have done some experimentation already with the virtual earth release but i am not aware if there is a way to get my models from local live over to 3Dvia.
Any help avaliable on that?
Also are there plans to allow shape to accept 3D formats other than its own?
Cheers
Chris
p.s. Well done on the 3D model hosting service! its top notch!
p.p.s.
I cant rightly take credit for the how-to video especially as its not my terribly boring voice. LOL ( sorry Brian)

Thanks for the credit on the boring voice video Chris, not sure I want it now ;-)
Great job on the models as ever Chris, and thanks to the 3dVia guys for you exciting new tools and interest in what we are up to.

Brain / Chris - thank you for the input and my apologies for the mis-credit on the video voice-over…although I found it very interesting and engaging. ;-)
Virtual Earth - 3DIVA is currently dedicated to Virtual Earth but, as with your other question, both that product and 3DVIA Shape are early releases of what we hope to be very useful tools. We have some great planned updates so…stay tuned!
Thank you as well for the kind words on the hosting service that we have here. This also will go through a transformation this year and I would love to get your input as we work to release any updates.
