Happy 3D New Year from 3DVIA

General, Models Spotlight 2 Comments »

We would like to wish you all a Happy 3D New Year!  I thought it would be appropriate to usher in 2008 with what I am now calling  Pierre’s3D Baby New Year“.  He (or is it she?) looks a bit metallic but I think will fill out nicely this year.

For my latest request, please add your links for new years related models.  It could be champagne bottles, party hats…a 3D model of your friends after they’ve had to much 3D Champagne and 3D party hats?  Anything that you would like to celebrate the new year.

Last time, Shadows44 provided his Xmas model for our holiday request.  If you get a chance, check out his Shadows.fr 3D blog (French).

Happy 3D New Year!!!

3D House Models Ready for Microsoft Virtual Earth

General, Virtual Earth, Virtual World No Comments »

The Virtual Earth blog on Windows Live just posted a great video covering some of the 3D house models that the 3DVIA team created for Microsoft Virtual Earth using  Virtual Earth - 3DVIA.  I thought it would only be fitting for us to post the video here as well.

If you would like to remix these 3D house models, click here to access the collection - requires an MSN account (Hotmail, etc.).   Hover over the model name, and select “Add to collection”.  In the Collections editor, you can move the model to a new location, and remix it inside of Virtual Earth – 3DVIA.

Promote Your Google Earth Models on 3DVIA.com

Update 1 Comment »

Are looking for a good way to promote your Google Earth models?  3DVIA just added the ability to upload your .kmz packaged 3D models directly to our site.

In addition to the additional exposure you will get on 3DVIA.com, a great reason to upload your Google Earth content is the ability to offer an interactive 3D preview of your models for the visitors on your website.  Every 3DVIA model comes equipped with an interactive 3D Life Player that can be embedded directly into your blog, online profile or just about any web page.

Here is an example of a .kmz packaged model uploaded recently to 3DVIA.com.  Click on the “PLAY 3D” button (you will need to add the 3D Life plugin to your browser) to view the model.

Posting a 3D model to your site is as simple as posting a video from YouTube.   After you have uploaded your content, look for the small snippet of code located underneath each model on it’s viewer page.  It will be listed under the title of  “HTML Widget”.  Simply copy and paste that code into your page or post and you are off to the races.  We currently use Wordpress as our blogging platform but the player will work with Blogger or any other standard page that accepts iframes.

Enjoy!
