great..! but printscreen sometime this groundplane undifined, till U’r model aslant seem
I am not 100% sure what you mean, but if say that the the model is not grounded in a right way, you are correct, but I have no influence in that in LEGO Deisgner
maybe the camera is the fault
@alfredix – If you open the model while logged into 3DVIA, and if you can find a flat surface that you want to be the ground, then select it with the middle mouse button as you hover over that surface (you should see a little blue cone pointing at the surface you selected). Then, without releasing the middle mouse button, move over the “Repositioing” tool (at about 19:00 hrs on the tool wheel), then release the button. The model will reposition itself with that surface as the ground.
Then, to save the settings so that everyone will see it that way when they open the model, position the mouse over a part of the model, hold down the middle mouse button and move over the “Save the current settings” button at about 20;00 hrs on the wheel and release it.
Doing this does not reset the thumbnail, but whenever you or anyone else opens the model it should be reset. I hope this works for you. Sometimes on vehicles it is hard to find a flat surface parallel to the ground, since they rest on tires. If I’m modeling the item myself, I’ll put a flat spot on the tires so that they sit right and I can choose it as the ground.
You can do this when you have other people’s models open, but you cannot save it.
hi Don, thanks a lot for this detailed description. I think it was Tomy, who gave me this hint before.
It works ONLY in IE. I am using FireFox and there this does not work.
Actually some of older LEGO models were modified this way. you can check. They should be aligned properly to the ground. But I do not see that effect in FirFox nor does it help to make this process in Firefox. I will do the alignement later in IE for the new LEGO models, so that people using IE, can see it right
Again, thanks for your hint.
best regards
Alfredix
Hi Don, I repositioned this launcher in IE now. you should see it correctly now.
PS: The preview does not change.
HI Alfredix,
You’re welcome and thank you – I didn’t know that the repositioning doesn’t work in Firefox – I’ll have to explore that. Even now, after you re-posiioned it in IE, it doesn’t load correctly in Firefox, but loads fine in IE. Too weird.
Thanks to Tomy for giving the right solution earlier!
Don
Hi Don, all my other LEGO models are now repositioned as well. they should look ok in IE.
Alfredix
Well actually, I learned that from Mgbaron, so you should say thanks to him.
Alfredix, if you view the top of the model when you press F10, the model should look right.
That is, in 3dxml Player, rotate to the top and press F10
@Tomy. I am afraid, you lost me. I tried both, here on web site (in FireFox) an with my offline 3DXML player. F10 seems to have no function at all, no matter where I tried.
But never mind. IE users see it right now, for all my LEGO models
I mean, when you just used printscreen, 3dxml player should open, does it not?
And you have to have printscreen and 3dxml player open for either to work, it is like a save button.
@Tomy, thanks for this advice. I need to try in detail. ACtually just pressing F10 did not show any effect. But let me play a little, I’l get back to you :)
Well, you know what save is right? If the player is open, and you rotate to the top, and printscreen is open, when you press F10 when at the top of the model, it should save it straight.
Hi Tomy,
please check this model http://www.3dvia.com/alfredix/models/E8F18DDEF0C2D4E6
I did exactly as you said, but F10 has no function in my 3DXML player. I suppose it has something to do that I use 64bit XP. I will check your hints again on 32bit OS. Btw. you should see the new model oriented correctly (even though preview is wrong). I did the reorienting in IE and saved it there. In Firefox this still doesn’t work…)
Anyway, thanks for your comments and help
Alfredix
well,there are many preoblems in browsers.in opera,for example,i can’t view any model in 3dxml player,i must open ie,and i can’t open directly shape or remix something…
oh,and alfredix,if you can download a already existing lego model on market in order to modify it,you can printscreen this one :7574
