This is a 1:35 scale Model of a B-1A Lancer. The B1 is a strategc US Bomber. The model carries AGM-69 SRAM nuclear missiles. The B1 has 3 weapon bays which can be equipped with serveral different weapon systems. The original model features a fully functional landing gear and a detailled cokpit assembly.
This was my first model with extensive surface modelling. I hope you like it :)

You’ve been adding some excellent models, but I think this is the best! Not only is the surface modeling well done, the bomb bay detailing is fantastic!
Pierre would probably love to have you add all of your aircraft to his Airplanes Group – http://www.3dvia.com/groups/group_home.php?groupId=B8C89CAE8092A4B6 .
I can’t wait to see what you do next!
Hey billybobsue, thanks a lot for your comment. I am glad you like it :) there is more to come. It just takes a little bit until the data are prepared for 3DXML.
That’s great news that we get to see more!
Do you have to do something special to go from CATIA V5 to 3DXML?
Actually since about 2 years I do all my models in Pro/E. I convert with STEP 214 and import to Catia. In Catia I do some cleaning work and then I save a s 3DXML in Catia. Fortunately the export is very good in Catia.
Congratulations alfredix! Your model has been included in the 14th weekly Top 10 models blog with pictures and links to your model.
Go to http://www.3dvia.com/blog/2009/02/18/3dvia-top-models-014/ to check it out!
@alfredix – it’s good that you export in STEP 214 (+ 214: Automotive design), since STEP 206 (+ 206: Wireframe 3D mechanical design) doesn’t seem to include colors.
CATIA does seem to do a great job once you get the variables right – for anyone else having problems see the blog post – http://www.3dvia.com/blog/2008/08/28/how-to-export-catia-v5-3dxml-files-for-3dvia/
Just noticed this model in your featured artist interview. It is really impressive.I admire your dedication to stick with this one model for 2 months.
Thanks mgbaron. It’s not that hard, time flies when you have fun :)
Humble too!
Wow wow wow wow, i guess this is the wonder of all the advanced CADs out there, and of ourse, Alfredix, i really wish Gogole SketchUp 7 would be able to handle as many polies ;)
Thanks Mr. Planet. I think that is one of the differences between Goodle sketchup and a prof. CAD system.
If you like that one, check out also my helicopter models. I think I have done a few that you also modeled. Hope you like them
