This is a 1:35 scale model of a C-130J Hercules.
The “J” Version is the latest Update of the “Hercules”, which is in service since the late 50s. You can read all about the Hercules on Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C-130_Hercules ).
Comments on the model: The model was made in Pro/E (ca. 250 parts, ca 100MB size). A STEP file was generated. This STEP file has a size of 45MB (zipped ca. 9MB) and here on 3DVia we have 2MB 3DXML file. In my opinion 3DVia is doing a great job in reducing the data with literally no loss in quality.

none of my warehouse/imported models aren’t so big(the biggest has 25mb unzipped!)
Wow, that must have reallllllly been compressed.
I bet you had to remove some parts to get this in, but you must have been dissapointed, you deleted some models to get this in, now it’s only 2 MB!

the Hercules was made in 3 Gunship versions:
AC-130A (in Vietnam)
AC-130E (also Vietnam from 1971 on). this one became AC-130H Spectre from 1973 on
AC-130U Spooky II (, latest version in the 90s)
the C-5 Galaxy was never made as Gun ship.
what you mean is a Douglas AC-47 Spooky, aka Puff the magic dragon. check Wiki for details.
