1:35 scale model of a Leopard 2A6. Main (visual) difference to the A5 is a 1.3m longer barrel to increase fire power and range. There is an additional smoke grenade pod on the left front of the turret and additional storage baskets on both sides of the rear turret. In reality, the A6 has electronic upgrades for radar and enimy targeting. The bottom of the hull offers increased mine protection.

Another excellent model Alfred! The longer barrel is really apparent in this video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjizELNwRCg – I love the shots where the turret is turned almost perpendicular to the hull!
Hi Don, thank you.
the video is great. And Ramstein (the name of the band) do their part to emphasize the story.
While I worked on the Leo 2 Family I saw a lot of videos. for me this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cye86-9Abtk&feature=PlayList&p=342A6A68F5A5312E&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=32
was very useful because it explains the history of that tank very good.
And I like the part where the Leos in winter carmoflague were running full speed across the country.
You’re right alfredix – that is a great video and I agree that watching the Leopards catch air in the snow is fantastic! Seeing the two different cannon configs is cool too. It’s still hard to gauge the size of the thing. Someone needs to park an old Tiger next to one and make the comparison!
Hi Billybosue, we should ask Nobbnob. He introduced the Tank group. Maybe he has a Tiger somewhere. I am not so much into WW II things.
I think for the size, the Leo2 is about the size of the Abrams. Beside the cannon they share a lot of parts. The LEO2 and the Abrams both came out of an originally joint project between the US and Germany. Both countries intended to make a common tank. This project was canceled and both countries developed their own tanks, the Abrams and the Leo.
Congratulations Alfred! Your model has been included in the 49th weekly Top 10 models blog with pictures and links to your model.

@hobbnob: too bad about the tiger. I plan to do a Abrams. Maybe I can do a model with both tanks included.
