It is a great scene Abu_roadking. Well done (the scene honores your username quite well :) )
To make it perfect, you may want to think about the proportions of the objects:
All cars on the street look good compared to the racetrack. But the spectator ranks are too small in relation to the cars
And the T-Rex-Truck (no baby rex here?) is way too big comared to the rest.
Maybe you alo rework the VIP cabins on top of the ranks. It looks a bit odd that this obx is just sitting on the edge of the rank.
Hope you don’t mind my comments. As I said, the rest is excellent.
This race is not fair…after all how can a old car win over F1cars / customized car in a race like this?? strange race.. ……….Also I have never seen zebra crossing in a speed track.. I am not sure if anyone else seen this or not??
@alferdix… all the points you’ve mentioned are perfect… i did try to edit this model however after resizing the models as per your observation, i’m unable to upload it again… Shape’s giving me model too big error :( so i guess this one has to be as it is… with the imperfections…
anyways thanks a lot for your comments… always appreciate and welcome them… :)
@XQH_XXX: seems like you are not aware of drag racing…
here’s a quick tutorial on the subject…
drag races are typically run over a 1/4 mile distance and between 2 cars… fastest is obviously the winner… accurate timing is check using the “christmas tree” (starting lights) and the timers/speed traps at the end of the 1/4 mile…
different cars are used depending on the ‘class’… stock, modified, top-fuel dragsters, funny dragsters, etc, etc, etc… even bikes… never heard of car and bike run (anyone aware of such a race??)
hot-rods??? don, this is your area of expertise… i’ll let you answer this one…
about the zebra crossings… just used the available models on 3DVIA… and had to make some kind of marking for “start line”… what the hell!!! start line or zebra crossings… how does it matter…. unless of course you’re on the crossing while the tree goes green >;-) he he he… if you don’t like it… lets change the name of model to “street racing” LOL!!!!
we don’t just make and share models… we also share lot of information and knowledge… if you’re curious enough you too can google and land up in tonnes of facts about various subject…
for the present model… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_racing could help you a bit more…
lemme know if you need more inputs…
@XQH_XXX: now you’ll understand that the line-up of cars is actually for 3 races… 1 is in progress and 2 are lined-up… (description: now, next, later!!!)
and the old cars vs f1/customized…. guess you’ll figure it out!!!
That’s bad about the shape error, when resizing. I thought something like this, becasue your other models are perfect scaled, so I assumed already a “system error”.
Great explanation about the drag races. I think Don can add his share, especially about muscle cars, running drag races.
@XQH_XXX: Drag race means: no toy trains and no baby carts allowed (no ofense :) ) It is a 1/4 MILE race, no a 1/4 DAY race… hihi
Where is my dragster bike? :D
only “horse”-powered vehicles allowed… “man”-powered ones are disqualified :D he he he
Fantastic model and comments and guys! I was sleeping and you guys were having all the fun :D
In virtual drag racing I think the rule books gets changed frequently, especially depending on who owns the track. All things are possible in the virtual world.
As far as hot rods, formal drag racing exists because of hot rods! It was a way for the rodders, clubs and the police to make community peace and safety as important as speed and ingenuity.
The biggest day of my month in junior high school was the day my copy of Car Craft magazine arrived – all about drag racing. I was just reading Hot Rodder’s Journal with my coffee this morning. And, strangely enough, i have never once been to a real drag race :P.
Slot cars brought the Chaparral and Ford GT40 into my life and before I knew it GT and Le Mans prototype racing took over my fantasy car world. The 60’s were such a fertile time for those who had the imagination and guts to try anything.
Gosh, this is fun!
