THE AUSTRALIAN AND THE NEWSPAPER AD
I’m in Sidney Harbour, looking at the beautiful bridge that joins the two halves of the city, when an Australian comes up to me and asks me to read an advertisement in the newspaper.
‘The print is too small,’ he says. ‘I can’t make out what it says.’
I try, but I haven’t got my reading glasses with me. I apologize to the man.
‘Oh, that’s all right,’ he says. ‘Do you know something? I think that God suffers from poor eyesight too, not because He’s old, but because that’s how He wants it to be. That’s why, when someone does something wrong, He can always say He couldn’t quite see, and so ends up forgiving the person because He doesn’t want to commit an injustice.’
‘And what if someone does something good?’ I ask.
‘Ah, well,’ laughs the Australian, moving off, ‘God, of course, never leaves His glasses at home!’

it’s a book excerpt from “Like the Flowing River” by Paulo Coelho… comments and suggestions welcome as usual…
great looks like a good resting place
nice work again abu
oh and about this so called (nice) god..
all creatures there is alive /living on the planet earth has to kill something to eat or stay alive
even the plants has devolped advanced killing metods to get food..
a big part of the animals in sea or on land is dam good killing machines and many even kills other from its own species..
if this so called god created all this then HOW can he be a nice and gentle person when he is totally facinated (i will say obsessed) in the art of killing…
????????????????????????????????????..
Thank you, Abu, for another thought provoking model and story! I never thought 3DVIA would include such depth of thought and discussion. Thank you for bringing it to the community.
@smike – You make good points. The history of philosophy and religion are filled with many questions, but not many answers. I try to think of any subject as being in the middle of a huge circle with all of us on the circle looking in. My view will most likely be different from your view, but we are all still in the same circle and there is room on the circle for everyone.
iraq war ends?oh s*th!
as don rightly said… in matters of religion & philosophy.. there are many questions left unanswered… but then religion is about faith… faith vs questions, doubts, reasons…
is there a God or not… you have only one way of confirming that… by dying… if there indeed is no one… no worry… however, if there is the One… you’re sc***ed…
if you believe there is God… then is He good or bad?? if He’s good… why so much of bad things happening around…. a badly designed system???
the more you dig more things you’ll find…
i believe in a simple rule… good things happen to good people… eventually… call it belief… rule… religion… whatever… a thumb-rule… as Lord Krishna says “Keep doing Karma without expecting results”…
what good is reason, belief, religion or anti-belief or paganism… if it can’t lower human misery…. whatever be your means… try bringing comfort to whoever you can… one good deed towards one human is equivalent to a good deed towards complete humanity, mankind…
touchy issue… one life-time might not do justice to the discussion…
@sady… just used the image google popped when i used “times” key word in image search…
it is far from over… ask the people who have lost their dear ones… on both sides… its a war every day… against the memories… against ‘reason’… against any explanation…
again a very touchy issue…
just to explain the scene a bit in case people could not understand the story, model and their link…
the story is guess is pretty simple… the idea of bench & glasses triggered me to make this model…
could not find sidney bridge, this bridge was the best among the ones uploaded. finding appropriate glasses & bench was no big deal… but with this bridge, bench & glasses i could not effectively represent the author’s scene…
so i thought of using the set-up for implying that these are God’s glasses… bridge leading to garden of Eden (?) or simply heaven… dead tree bearing apples, devil in disguise of snake (looks funny though), half eaten apple lying on ground…
on this side of bridge is God’s table… an issue of “Earth Times” with headline reading ‘Iraq war ends’… the size of newspaper signify that it contains all the news of earthly beings… mabbe a compilation of all the earth newspapers perhaps… there is a box containing key of the gate leading to garden… there is also a bunch of keys with a keyring of earth, signifying that the keys to all problems of earth are with God… there are issues of TIME magazine with front pages related to God Himself… depicting He want’s to know what the human are thinking of Him… and lastly there is a magical table lamp & of course “His Glasses”….
@ the touchy part on religion & war…
religion is an individual matter… no one can enforce it on you… everyone is free to believe in whatever he or she wants to believe… there have been great minds who explored why religion was needed and many other why it wasn’t… but that all cannot & should not influence what you or i should believe in… its our own call…
i can go on and on on this matter… but we can never ever reach consensus… have read an interesting book called “God’s Debris” by Scott Adams… very interesting views and counter-views… google it and you can read it online i guess…
@war…
i love war movies coz they bring out the best of human emotions and compassion under dire circumstances…
but i hate wars because people actually die… and a life put to an end always brings misery amongst fellow humans…
i appreciate war machines and war planes and other engineering marvels because it was a human mind which devised it in the first place… and its the science behind it that fascinates me… the speed factor… the tremendous high you get when you appreciate a technical marvel…. but when these are used to kill someone it brings utter disgust… you may call me hypocrite or having double standards or contradicting myself… but that’s what is true…
just sharing thoughts here… not meant to be taken personal or directed towards individuals or anything of the sort… these are my thoughts… not at all intended to offend anyone… just sharing what i felt… hope you guys don’t get any negative vibes…
i’m sure everyone around is mature enough here to understand and think and then respond…
@abu_roadking: great model and story again :)
@smike: I can explain that by the example of the light! :)
The light is normally a material that we can see, that we can master and that we even can create with lot of electrons… but could you create the darkness ? which is not a material that is from some protons or neutrons … but which is just an absence of light ;)
There we can represent the light by the Good and the darkness by the Bad.
God created the good, but Bad things have been born from places without Good… :)
That’s my point of view :D
thanks jackred for the good words… and also for sharing another interesting point of view…
thanks also to smike, sady & don for your inputs…
about the long comments above… it’s just that sometimes i simply can’t stop writing… i go on and on… hope you don’t mind them :)

model for this is coming up shortly :)
This discussion has been one of the best on 3DVIA so far. As a community that stretches around the world, we should expect many different ways of looking at things and be open to learning from them. I’m happy that folks are sharing their thoughts on such important and meaningful topics. We have been brought together by our enjoyment of 3D modeling and are experiencing more than that as we learn from each other.
each one sees the war with other eyes
the man fought since it first appeared
is a man-constitution
a part of the brain that makes us behave so
from time to time there appears one and one guy that says te war is bad
means he doen’t have that primitive instinct of killing
thirst of blood?no.just he hides it
i have a theory
the scheptycs are actually the people who belive the most in a thing, but they are afraid to admit it.from fear.not from the others, but from the object itself.like God,ufos and other stuff
there is nothing bad in a play of war
but the real one is a infinite times more complex than child’s play.
so again at this sentence-the man fought from it’s beggins and i think it will not give up this behave too soon.
we all see a lot of sci-fi games like sins of a solar empire
you think in the future we will be our own slaves,or slavs of a computer(terminator?) or a ideal society, like we seen in movies as ‘cleric’ or ‘half life’(actually that movie didn’t appeared yet)
now is mostly peace
i barely find my words in conditions like those
but the speech(or however is this named) would be another in conditions of war
you think i love war?no
i am not made of stone
but as you can’t have beautiful times without rain, winter without flu, there is no peace without war
man will never stop fighting
each time will be somebody to start it.the future awaits us with each more and more powerful weapons, capable of blowing up huge volumes, capable of genocide
global warming?black holes inside of earth?automatical humansticide robots?self-destruct?no one knows but one thing is sure
isn’t finished yet
and about God,don’t ask me,you’d ridiculise me then…i have enough to tell about that topic too
‘a slave is one who waits someone to free him’-Ezra Pound
You make a lot of good point sady!
Philosophers have been discussing this forever and will continue on forever. I like reading sci-fi because many of the writers explore philosophical concepts in ways that help us understand your comment about the nature of all things being a whole which cannot be divided up.
The stories often take a point of view and follow it through to the conclusions that the natural world will create without help from books or opinions. People are people and will always respond/react in a natural way, leading to natural results. Time and culture change some things, but not the basic nature of man.
The internet is wonderful because it has allowed more people to join the discussion. Great ideas do not only come from “experts”. Living a real life with your eyes open and your mind open will lead to many discoveries of your own that will make your life more meaningful.
It has been said that when God watches you, He never blinks, because if He did he would not be able to see you for a split second. And, He loves you so much that he doesn’t want to miss that split second. He wants to see you always.
yeah thanks
i am sorry for me
i just lost my will to live…for a book
i have some more chapters and i finish the second book of a series of 9
then i will enter in sevrage
if someone finds the online book(not the sumary, the book) i’d be thankful
please…someone(damn those libraries, you can’t find anything good or complete in them)
oh,and the book is named ‘chronicles of emerged world’(croniche del mondo emerso in italian)
but is split in more with other names you find the complete edition here: http://www.liciatroisi.it/bibliography-en/the-emerged-world-saga/
now i go to kill myself with the toothbrusher….i finished the book this night….on the toilet….quite lame, not?
that’s some wisdom from sady… and i like the way you finish off your books :D LOL…
i must say a very profound discussion so far thanks to smike, sady, don, jackred and omind… thanks all of you :)
make a new model so we can start there again
i have some interesting stuff to tell about the world conspiracys and god
but if you want
and i hope ‘some wisdom from sady’ isn’t a irony
i am a cult person
maybe(/surely) i behave sometimes like a dummy but i intend to do that
i don’t know is strange
that book totally changed my vision and point of view for everything
is just genius that book
never felt something so much for something ,the less a book
indeed i loved eragon but neven so!
Does anyone know where copies of these books can be found in English? They sound interesting and I’m looking for a new author to read in this genre.
Other author suggestions are welcome too. :)
continuation of the discussion in 3D form…. http://www.3dvia.com/abu_roadking/models/1D38C2132537091B
Let’s hear what sady has to say on this…
Read few interesting things at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinto
…….Killing living beings should be done with reverence for taking a life to continue one’s own and should be kept to a minimum….
…. Before eating, many (though not all) Japanese say, “I will humbly receive” (戴きます, itadakimasu?), to show proper thankfulness to the preparer of the meal in particular and more generally to all those living things that lost their lives to make the meal….
….The worst expression of such an attitude is the taking of another’s life for personal advancement or enjoyment. Those killed without being shown gratitude for their sacrifice will hold a grudge (怨み, urami?) and become a powerful and evil kami that seeks revenge (aragami)…..
Congratulations Abu! Your model has been included in the 40th weekly Top 10 models blog with pictures and links to your model.

A fellow worker suggested that I read Ishmael – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ishmael_%28novel%29 – and I am also reading the follow-on The Story of B – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Story_of_B – both of which have some wonderfully refreshing views on some very basic assumptions that we, as humans, make about ourselves and our world. I’m finding the thoughts to be very worthwhile!
looking forward to read these… thanks for suggesting them Don :)
You’re welcome Abu! I’ve been recommending Paulo Coelho to anyone who I talk about books with.
