We’ve had a very wet spring and summer in the northeastern US and the apples have been tremendously happy! Its been a huge crop with lots of flavor. Granny Smiths are my favorites.

quote: Crisp, tart, tangy and juicy! I like tart over sweet, so they fit. How do they taste 6 months later?
Like plastic apples… I know a fellow that left a Granny Smith apple in his car, and one year later, he saw no difference! I like the Aromas colour, darke red, the a little bit tart but very aromatic taste of the apple, and they’re so juicy. I’m eating one right now, I have a tree with them :). http://www.xn—grnsaksmstarna-dib5z.net/userfiles/Gronsaksmastarna/burken/bilder2/aroma041.jpg

Wow, I just learned a lot - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Granny_Smith - I didn't know any of that. It seems that you may be able to find them closer to you than the US - http://www.theworldwidegourmet.com/products/fruits/granny-smith-apple/ - but, yes they are grown here too. In the state of Washington I think.
thx for the links Don :)
to go with Abu’s model, we’ve learned about the green one (Granny Smith), you should also read about the red Macintosh (not the computer :p) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McIntosh_%28apple%29
It’s the one shown at the Apple corp. logo

i like the green ones too… but we don’t find them very often here… never the yellow ones…
we usually get the red ones and these come from the northern parts of india (kashmir and himachal) http://www.applejournal.com/india001.htm

That’s a great link Abu! I learned a lot about apples in India in one quick article. It sounds like the Granny Smith variety is grown there, but in very small quantities.
I asked the produce manager in our local store about the Aroma variety that Oscar mentioned and we do get them, but only at the height of the season.
Red and Yellow Delicious apples tend to be very sweet here and I prefer the crisp and tart varieties. In our yard we had a huge yellow delicious tree (until a late snow storm one year destroyed it) and a big Rome variety tree that rarely provides edible fruit without a lot of pesticide application.
We also have several varieties of smaller apples, which are more decorative than edible. The deer like them all though! :)

Congratulations! I’m really happy that my ‘slice’ was used in this model :) I had posted it for internal personnal use but did not think that it would be of great help to someone else! Your idea is great, and the execution too (I especially love the textures!

I suddenly want an apple juice (one hour later)! =D
What kind of apples to you get in Morocco?

Sounds like a traffic light! As far as the apples, as long as you like it, that’s all that matters. :)
I like the green ones the best, I eat one almost every night (if not then I eat a yogurt instead).

Well, I guess 6 months aging works for some cheeses, but not for apples. Enjoy your very own Aromas! They sound delicious.
I really want to taste a fresh Granny Smith :) Are they picked in the USA?
