I did not know that what became infamous as a “swastika” was also an Indian decorative motif. I do know that native American tribes used the same symbol as well. One US Army National Guard unit formed in Oklahoma long before WWII used it as part of their insignia and had to change it. Bill Mauldin, the famous American cartoonist was in that unit at the start of his WWII experiences.
