I used to take something unusual to taste to every Cub Scout meeting to stretch the Cubs’ culinary horizons (mine too). The best one was a bunch of large pitted dates that I lined up in a container and convinced them that they were specially raised cockroaches and were really yummy. Of course, the joke didn’t last long, but we all got a big laugh out of it.

My ex used to make it for Halloween and other occaisions :-)
