The best reference for him is H.P. Lovecraft. He created the Necronomicon, which describes Cthulu and the Old Ones. It was written by the fictional character Abdul Alzehred, the mad arab, who was eaten alive in the middle of a marketplace by an invisible entity. Lovecraft wrote many books, including “At the Mountains of Madness” and “The Dunwich Horrer”. This is my own interpretation of the character.

This was originally a VRML model and the texturing was with an animated gif that liooked like moving lava.
