how ‘hard to model’ depends on which tools you use, what is your approach for modelling and the fact how complex the model is itself… is it fairly simple or complex… my willy’s jeep or one of alfredix’s trucks…
now all of them are balls but each one has different levels of detailing. be it shapes, textures, features or other aspects of modelling like how do i start… how do i add the features… what features to add first and which later… etc…
and believe me it is preety difficult at times, what seems simple, takes ages to complete…
very difficult to explain that, tomy...

Each model is built to meet the requirements of the situation. Gamers are always trying to reduce polygon count so the game moves quickly. CAD people are focused on making sure that the manufacturing details are all there and that it can be easily modified as it moves through the engineering process.
Models with complex surfaces are even more difficult. Class A automotive surfaces, aircraft surfacing and medical 3D models are the most demanding. The margin for error gets ever smaller.
Simple elegance is the hardest of all to achieve. It takes a great breadth and depth of experience and knowledge to add only those elements that make the model/product function well and still satisfy the eyes and hands as well.
Excellent answer abu_roadking!

Hey, haven’t seen you on 3dvia, probably cause the last time i was on was like a year ago. I’ve seen this on the warehouse, pretty impressive. Just watch out for this guy named SADY and SADY2, he has like 300 stolen models with no credit. Report him when you got a chance. It would do all of us a favor.

@Unlimitedguy – As you now know (thanks to your comments on other models), sady/sady2 is going through his models and cleaning up his act, but you’re right to ask viewers to call out any bad behavior! Thanks.

Excellent! It’s nice to have the landing gear and armaments! Each country’s modelers can put their own markings on too.
very good, very very good.
How can things seem so simple in the thumbnail yet so hard to model?
very difficult to explain that, tomy…
